I don't think that it counts as a 2011 release. That said, it is my favorite Mercury Rev album.

Thanks. Can't hear the spelling.

George Papandreau. (no I didn't look it up; I listen to NPR. )

Oh, and this site is brilliant: http://www.losanjealous.com/nfc/ "Swallow your poison, for you need it badly."

Not trying to be snarky or nasty. By all accounts he was a very nice guy who will be missed by many, many people. Just happened to write the most whitebread strip this side of... anything. And did so by his own admission, saying that he would rather just bring a smile of recognition to your face than make you bust a gut laughing. Rest in peace, Bil.

Bil Keane, creator of the mildly amusing daily comic strip is dead at 89.

Just life. Recording an acoustic EP. Solo and stuff. Hop on Pop exists in name only.

Sounds like classic Riviera, Derek -- with a touch of My Morning Jacket. All of which is, of course, a good thing. Excellent stuff, my friend!

I just haven't heard enough 2011 releases to do an extended list. So, have at it!!! And I will use these to find some new stuff to check out.

Yeah, this is a great record. Have to listen to it a few more times, but it might make the top of my list before long, too.

I always liked it. A lot. But listening to it recently, it finally took me away to someplace else, like I always hoped that it would. Curious to hear the finished BB recordings now, but not enough to drop a shitton of cash. Not while the Brian Wilson release is so marvelous.

Nice cover tune. The guitar sounds beautiful, and I really like your voice. Reminds me a little bit of Ray Davies (no small compliment).

Yeah, just three (or 5 if you really can't narrow it). Let's try to keep it short and sweet: just the ones that you really love. Mine, in no real order: Yep - Once An album of almost entirely covers, done by a couple of guys who know how to breathe new life into classics without radically changing them. They just pull out all of these wonderful aspects, melodies, harmonies, and emotions that were always there that you never really noticed before. A brilliant record. Last night Heaven Can Wait was on broadcast TV. I caught the last 45 min. or so of it and remembered how much I loved it. Also remembered how much I like Warren Beatty. Also remembered that I should probably go out and rent the original (Mr. Jordan) to see how it stacks up.

To answer the question: Yes. But not happily.

Folks are gonna just download that, anyway. They need to sell the whole package to make any money on the damn thing, methinks.
