Thanks. And tinnitus: I love me some Dogbowl! (I also own that Shrimp Boat box set, which is pretty amazing.)

And I completely agree with Teenage Fanclub Bandwagonesque Thirteen Grand Prix Songs From Northern Britain Not too shabby.

Figure that, since that other thread is about the bands, this would be a good place to list and discuss the albums of that past decade. Mine, in no particular order: Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea Los Lobos - Kiko Teenage Fanclub - Bandwagonesque Blur - Parklife Pulp - Different Class Neutral Milk Hotel - On Avery Island Guided By Voices - Alien Lanes Guided By Voices - Bee Thousand Super Furry Animals - Radiator The La's - The La's Pavement - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain Belle & Sebastian - If You're Feeling Sinister Yo La Tengo - Electr-o-Pura Wilco - Summerteeth

You know... I think that you and I are on the same wavelength.

That's kinda funny since I'm almost certain picked it up at Streetside Records in Columbia, MO in Dec., 1989. Of course, I was in college, so time was a pretty malleable thing at that time. Oh, and, did I mention... LOS LOBOS!!! ?
-
Definitely. Maybe Stereolab, too? Oh, and... LOS LOBOS!!!
-
The debut album came out in 1989. Late 1989, but 1989, nontheless. And, still... LOS LOBOS!
-
I can get down with Yo La Tengo, Guided By Voices, and Pavement. Had Neutral Milk Hotel had more than just 2 records, they would win this for me, hands down. BUT... did I miss it, or has anybody yet to mention LOS LOBOS? The Neighborhood Kiko Colossal Head This Time And, that's not even to mention The Latin Playboys material.

Kinda creepy. Kinda cool. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=113673324 Okay, not cool. But interesting. I have to admit to uploading 2 songs to the site and one was "Platinum" status (8.7), the other was "Keep Trying" (4.4). As a musician, it is cool to see (at least on a mathematical level) whether or not my song is a "hit". Won't change a damn thing about the way I write or perform, but it's cool nonetheless. So maybe it is cool... like that.

How is this?
-
It had been a while, but it was every bit as good as I remembered it.

Is it so wrong to not like The Beatles?
PopTodd replied to Wild Frank's topic in Someone Else's Song
I can understand your feelings. I feel like that about a couple of bands; but at least you recognize their importance and the quality of what they did. You should still go to a doctor, though. -

The Boomtown Rats - The Fine Art of Surfacing I bought this my senior year of high school, based upon "I Don't Like Mondays" (of course). And, I sold it about a year later to buy something else that I probably sold, as well. Earlier this week, "There's Someone Looking At You" was played on WXRT and I was singing along without knowing who it was. But I knew that I remembered the song. I LOVE this song! I think that I gotta go pick this one back up. Don't I?

Yeah. That was cool.
