I know that he's a major virtuosic weirdo. I also know that he played with a Camper Van Beethoven side project. What I don't know is where to start. Anyone a fan? Louie B? Bueller? Bueller?

Would be a perfect album, if not for the Apple Jams.

They are Chicago-based, but I don't think that they (he) really plays out much, if at all. It's just one guy, for the most part. Although I imagine that he (or the web site) would probably answer that question better.

As John is a friend, I'm not gonna provide anyone with a full album of stuff. (I'm not keen on DLing anything that's still commercially available, anyway.) But they do have a lot of free stuff available on their web site that you can DL with their blessing. And, that Happy Friday thing is a great option, too. (See first post.)

I think that it could be VERY good. As I also mentioned in my earlier post, I think that she is a really interesting guitar player. A format like that would certainly highlight that aspect of the songs. And, as they are great songs, I think that they would hold up really well. You just have to hope that she doesn't go all Chan Marshall on you and run away from the crowd.

Hey... I'm all about that. Check my earlier post for thoughts on that album.

HAPPY ASHTRAY I think that you'll like him. A favorite of Richard Milne at WXRT, as well.

Not so much a side project, I guess, as a Green Day alter-ego; much like The Dukes Of Stratosphear were for XTC. The guys have become a 60's garage rock band, and I've heard it's pretty good. Any of y'all heard the record? What are your poinions? Am I going to regret buying it as a gift for my GD-obsessed 9-year-old?

I just like how this is in the NON-music-related forum.

Exile In Guyville was amazing, and still is. And it has nothing to do with the fact that the songs are about BJs, they're just great songs. Of course, I'm about her age and was going through a break-up at the time the record came out, so it resonated. Still does. Even if I do have a Y chromosome and I'm happy now. Also, she may not be a great guitar player, but her approach to the instrument (especially as it pertains to songwriting) is pretty cool. I love the parts that she writes. Whoever made her polish up her act should be fired. Now. And, to Louie's point about the hype: I guess I j
