Sounds like the perfect musician's life. All of the financial security and none of the hassles of "fame": Now, let's whistle one in rememberance for him. All together now...

Guess I'm biased because I've been going to them since they had a single location on Broadway, and used the roaster that was in the middle of the store. Guess that I still think of them and their coffee in that light; when it really was amazing. But yeah, some roasts are better than others.

Yep. Me too. It was a damn good read... and kinda fun to get the dirt on some of the greats. Mingus sounds like one intimidating Mofo.

Although, at some point, when I check out the monthly "Now Playing" threads, just about everybody here is listening to something that I either like or am interested in hearing: I seem to be really digging on llynn's and GtrPlyr's choices more than most. Probably a couple of others' too, but their choices are the first that come to mind. Y'all?

Best coffee And yes, Kim: that is the Chicago "local small roaster". Although they ain't as small as they used to be. Still great, though.

I won't be there! But, have a great show Derek! And say hey to Josh for me. And, I just found out that Trakan is going to be on the bill, too! Great singer/songwriter who is on the same label as me!

One of my favorite albums, ever.

I know that he's a major virtuosic weirdo. I also know that he played with a Camper Van Beethoven side project. What I don't know is where to start. Anyone a fan? Louie B? Bueller? Bueller?

Would be a perfect album, if not for the Apple Jams.

They are Chicago-based, but I don't think that they (he) really plays out much, if at all. It's just one guy, for the most part. Although I imagine that he (or the web site) would probably answer that question better.

As John is a friend, I'm not gonna provide anyone with a full album of stuff. (I'm not keen on DLing anything that's still commercially available, anyway.) But they do have a lot of free stuff available on their web site that you can DL with their blessing. And, that Happy Friday thing is a great option, too. (See first post.)

I think that it could be VERY good. As I also mentioned in my earlier post, I think that she is a really interesting guitar player. A format like that would certainly highlight that aspect of the songs. And, as they are great songs, I think that they would hold up really well. You just have to hope that she doesn't go all Chan Marshall on you and run away from the crowd.

Hey... I'm all about that. Check my earlier post for thoughts on that album.
