  1. I second this. Although one restaurant just closed so the husband/wife team could focus on their mmj edibles business. The mmj store a block away never has any 'undesirables' hanging around, probably due to the armed security guards on patrol. The liquor store however is a different story.
  2. Just got my ballot in the mail today. I am always hesitant to fill it our the first day I get it or too early. Voted pretty early last Prez election and wish I had waited. Not sure what I will do this time.
  3. Best article on the election I have read https://medium.com/@frisch/math-the-elections-over-can-we-please-move-on-20b2ad1b6088
  4. House of Leaves Mark Z. Danielewski Against the Day Thomas Pynchon.
  5. Second. I have reread this and will probably do so again. I would also say Against the Day.

  7. Well shit, who am I supposed to vote for now? http://www.nytimes.com/2016/09/09/us/politics/gary-johnson-aleppo.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=story-heading&module=first-column-region&region=top-news&WT.nav=top-news
  8. The OJ trail. I remember watching an episode of Burke's law at my grandparents house when they cut away to show the car chase right when they were going to revel who did it. Took my siblings and I years to figure out what show we were watching. My brother got me a dvd set for my wedding.
  9. Probably, but it wont really matter. From Charles Blow today: “Recently, a few political scientists have begun to discover a human tendency deeply discouraging to anyone with faith in the power of information. It’s this: Facts don’t necessarily have the power to change our minds. In fact, quite the opposite. In a series of studies in 2005 and 2006, researchers at the University of Michigan found that when misinformed people, particularly political partisans, were exposed to corrected facts in news stories, they rarely changed their minds. In fact, they often became even more strongly set i
  10. Question about growlers. When we moved into our new place the person left 5 in the place. Used them the first time this weekend. That's a lot of beer. We got 2 filled and by today, just filled them yesterday afternoon, the beer was a little off. Probably had about half left in each. Any advice on keeping the beer fresher, besides drinking faster? Would it keep longer if we hadn't opened one? Got the beer from http://ratiobeerworks.com/
  11. Okay who won? I would like a small share please.
  12. Growing in a small town in Iowa I was not exposed to any Muslims at all. Most of what I gathered was from reading these books, in case anyone is interested: Milestones by Sayyid Qutb a leader in the early Muslim Brotherhood http://www.amazon.com/Milestones-Sayed-Qutb/dp/817231244X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449771607&sr=8- 1&keywords=milestones The First Muslim by Lesley Hazleton http://www.amazon.com/First-Muslim-Story-Muhammad/dp/1594632308/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1449771894&sr=8-1&keywords=the+first+muslim No God but God by Reza Aslan http://www.amazon.com/god-but-God-
  13. I totally agree. I just like to know where people get there numbers especially when I see very different ones.
  14. Thanks for the clear answer Hixter. I do have one question though, where do you get the 1/4th statistic? According to fivethirtyeight Just wondering. http://fivethirtyeight.com/datalab/what-percentage-of-americans-have-served-in-the-military/
  15. So I was reading an article on NationalReview today about gun control and saw this paragraph. I was just wondering if this gun isn't great for hunting how it is the most popular? Is it just good for target practice? I'm not trying to bring up the gun debate again, I just don't personally know anyone who owns one so was wondering. http://www.nationalreview.com/article/428156/gun-control-san-bernardino-shooting-lowry Oh and for those who wonder about the context of finding articles, I read news from everything from TheBlaze to the NYTimes just so I can get different sides of the coin.
  16. You don't have to wonder! From the latest Quinnipiac poll out Dec 2 .If the election for President were being held today, and the candidates were Hillary Clinton the Democrat and Donald Trump the Republican, for whom would you vote? 17. Just in case people wanted to watch the games here in the US NBC (probably on their Universal Sports network and Univision) will be showing four USA pool matches, opening match, both semi-finals, bronze final and the final with all the games being available through their streaming site as well.
  18. I am well aware that it is now Congress's problem that Guantanamo is still open. But he had 2 years at the start of his presidency to close it and did not. As far as drilling goes, I do not doubt that a Republican president would allow drilling and depending on the particular Libertarian they would too. I guess that is the point right? That he is doing the same thing that any other party would be doing, so what difference would voting for a different candidate matter if they all would end up drilling anyway?
  19. Well I watched all the debates and I really remember the first one because 1)it was at my school and 2) Obama 'lost' the debate but the things Romney was saying sounded crazy to me. So then it became between Obama and Gary Johnson. As Colorado was a very close call (according to the polls) I was very torn until the last minute. I am disappointed now because of a few things. First, Guantanamo still being open. And second because I think he has made compromises like allowing drilling in Alaska and elsewhere that will have a large negative effect on the economy by not forcing innovation in the
  20. In an article in the NY Times from this weekend they quoted a few Trump supporters not one was under the age of 60. Also many polls are still conducted over landline phones, which I know of no one in my age range (20-30) who has one. Polls are notorious for adjusting their (unreleased) numbers to take this into account, but this 'leveling' also allows bias to come into play as well as making polls track together to not seem like the one outlier. I would not put any stock into polls at this point. I am a swing voter! I voted libertarian (Bob Barr) in 2008 and Democrat in 2012 (wish I hadn
  21. I am in the process of planning a trip to Istanbul for next summer. Heading to France for the Euro's but have a week (or more) between games. We are planning on heading to Istanbul and Jordan for a couple of days each. Any recommendations are welcome. I spent a miserable 24 hours in Iceland about a year and half ago. Our flight got delayed for a day and in December on our way to France for our honeymoon. Long story short - if you haven't packed for Iceland in December, don't go to Iceland in December.
  22. Well I tried to PM you, but I can not. It says you cannot receive any more?
  23. Well Moss got about 125 of them. I still have about 175 of anyone wants to see the list let me know.
  24. Depending on where I am dictates how I listen to my music. At home, where there is always an internet connection, its streaming either Pandora or Spotify. At work same deal. In the car, I have my iPod which has all of my cd's on it as is. Airplanes, iPod. just about anywhere else I don't really listen to music. I also do not really buy new cd's either. In the end, I think I was once like many of you, had to have the cover art, the jewel case etc. Or just didn't trust harddrives or the internet. Now I have fully embraced the wireless world. I think I am going to get rid of them. If any one in
  25. I have converted them all multiple times multiple hard drives and iPods and most is also in the cloud. so I am not really worried about losing the music. I also have a small vinyl collection, but rarely break those out. How much? Haha.
