Ted Kennedy to be succeeded by a toolbag
Winston Legthigh replied to Sir Stewart's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Europe killed some, apparently. Maybe he's talking about the band? Maybe Der Final Countdown killed Americans? -
If $32 mil severance = ass fucked, then sign me up and pass the KY.

That's a HUGE stretch to make that conclusion. Perhaps many of the previous voters for Kennedy stayed home. Another big stretch. MAYBE they voted for Kennedy because they supported his stance on the issues. Maybe they were clueless about his stance? Voters vote for many reasons. Perhaps they voted party line, perhaps they voted for the person, not the party. Perhaps they voted for the Kennedy brand. Perhaps they voted for Kennedy because they didn't want change. -

So, was your ass on one of those transports to Europe, or was your ass getting shot at by European bullets? Or do you just selectively appropriate other people's painful experiences? -
I'm going with AC/DC. With Sweet and Slade as side acts/openers.

Wellllllll... That one is a whole nother sticky awful situation, and I know you know that there was MUCH more to consider regarding that decision than just merely impressing the Soviets. -

So, how do you feel about Manifest Destiny? Or does your indignation only go back 100 years? Condemning a continent for deaths... Interesting... -

I would in a heartbeat if the right employment opportunity (or if I solved the mystery of Oak Island) presented itself. Do you truly think Europe is a hellhole? Have you been? -

It's better in a Hell hole! You know where you stand in a Hell hole! Folks lend a hand in a Hell hole! Girl get me back to my Hell hole! My ancestors left Europe because they were kicked off their land on the Isle of Skye by landlords. -

Less expensive records? Just a thought... -
I think I can mostly agree with that, but I wouldn't include Rattle & Hum amongst their best. I didn't care for Achtung Baby, nor anything after Zooropa. U2's Unforgettable Fire tour was the first concert I went to, and they've had a special spot in my heart since then. Of their albums, I listen to Unforgettable Fire and Zooropa the most.
-
Petty's a geezer that most everyone loves, no? Has he done the SB before?
-
Agreed. Zooropa, Lemon, Stay (faraway, so close) and The Wanderer are all great songs. The album is so solid and has aged very well. Should have been made a double album with The Passengers project.

You'd consider Wilco sell-outs when....

Prince is no Sousa... yeesh!

I might have this one too, maybe a lesser model - it's not pre-setup to be wireless. But, regardless, I love it. Mine was about $200. Upgrades DVDs to high-def (kinda - DVDs are never going to have the resolution of a bluray disc) Atticus, I would recommend a bluray player mainly because they're not expensive, and they're backwards compatible.

Los Lobos - Town and the City. -
When I was a kid, for whatever reason, I didn't like the Kinks. I think it was because I hated the song Lola, for whatever reason. I love the Kinks now. Also - couldn't really stand Bob Marley for a long time. I think it was because his Legend album was played by every dorm doofus and frat fuck when I went to college. Now I love him - I would put Exodus in my top 20 all time.

Globes, yes, Golden, no - she was one of the few people not wearing bronzer.

Ratings, duh. Anything that's put on TV is done with the hope that it will attract viewers. This isn't LIVE. If this had really bothered Jay, and he was not prepared for it, he could have edited it out of the show.
-
Of course it was.

Conan's contract was signed long before Jay's show was a reality.
