  1. Definitely High Life. Then: Point, Hamm's, Schmidt, Olympia, and Leinie's. I'll drink any of those if the bar I'm at doesn't have a good Guinness tap.
  2. Jay Ferrar's voice is so grating that I can't listen to most Uncle Tupelo and NO Son Volt. Same with whatshisnuts from the Jawhawks: Gary Louris. Uy.
  3. Does anyone think the "pitcher bats 8th" strategy will catch on? To me, this doesn't make sense if you look at the amount of at-bats the 8th and 9th positions will get over the course of a season. Don't you want your worst batter getting the least amount of at-bats? Also - will relief pitching ever return to the old days of bringing in your best relief guy (who is most often the closer nowadays) when your starter is in a sticky situation? I'm assuming that most teams follow the order of 1. Starter 2. Relief 3. Set up 4. Closer, with the most talented pitchers being starters, and the closers
  4. "All you ever wanted" must be played loud. The hammond at the end is like the rush of a pipes and drum corp.
  5. Rarely played live?? Have you ever looked at their schedule from 63-66? If they weren't in the studio, they were on the road. Epstein practically worked them to death. Their hellish schedule was a big factor in choosing to stop touring.
  6. OMC - how bizarre. Lucas - Lucas with the lid off
  7. Los Lobos are the best American band today, and probably in the Top 5 all time. REM hasn't put anything interesting out since Document (that's 20 years of suckage). George should have been knighted before Paul (or, at all, for that matter). CCR's output vs time ratio is unparalleled.
  8. Hi there. Long time lurker, seldom poster... Frank Zappa is my numero uno, bar none. Others: David Hidalgo Billy Zoom Dan Auerbach Bob Stinson Prince George Harrison Steve Jones Mick Jones Adrian Belew Nels Cline Jamie Hince
  9. That was worse than a mouthful of sores.
  10. Itchycoo Park - The Small Faces (2:51) Windy - The Association (2:59) Got a Feelin - Mamas & Papas (2:58) Waterloo - ABBA (2:43) Girl from Ipanema (single v) Astrud & Joao Gilberto / Stan Getz, (2:55) To me, a pop song isn't blues/rock derived - it's more light and sing-songy.
  11. Hi. Long-time Wilco fan, first-time poster... After I saw their ACL show last weekend, I thought "Oh, THIS is how their SBS live show is supposed to sound." I saw them at the Rave in Milwaukee - and I think that's the last show I'm going to see there. (I've only been in Milrockee a year and a half). Man, that place sucks. Anywho - loved hearing the softer songs in total clarity.
