  1. This show just showed up on dimeadozen.... Don't know about any other sites.
  2. Can't argue with that, can we?
  3. The whole show is on Owl & bear right here.
  4. Jeff Spevak blew the review for the Rochester commercial fishwrap. I'll be interested to see Sity Newspaper's review (whoever writes it). As an aside, did anyone else see the "Where are the Flaming Lips?" T-shirt? Had me laughing.....
  5. Great show, the undersung heroes last night were the guys at the soundboard. Absolutely perfect, and I got the chance to hear a lot of nuances that I hadn't before. I was a tad bit disappointed by the greatest hits set list (but I got Muzzle!), but only slightly - given what I believe to be a greater than normal number of first time Wilco attendees, it was worth it, and maybe it's just me, but Nels seemed a bit more subdued than normal (that was meant in a good way), playing with a lot more definition in his notes. That's a crappy description, but the best I can do right now. The band defini
  6. As of 2PM this afternoon, Ticketmaster has GOOD tickets available for the show (i got mine through presale, the ones available are better).
  7. From Rochester's City Newspaper They actually made the front cover of the hard copy and the website this week. Nothing groundbreaking for Wilco fans, but a good (and fair) overview.
  8. I'm married, which by definition means I'm always wrong. Gotta give myself a pat on the back for this one (even though I screwed up the name and she's a friend of Pat's, not John's. Well, she could be a friend of John's, but that's not what I meant.) We've got about a dozen+ at the Tap and Mallet. Forgot about Selena's - could've parked for free! That or the sushi joint (though I prefer the one at Monroe and Oxford). Trying to figger out the after party.
  9. From Wikipedia: As of 2006, the Chesterfield Kings are engaged in a lawsuit with Armand Schaubroeck, owner of House of Guitars, over nonpayment of royalties records released on Mirror Records from 1984 through 1997. Andy Babiuk and Greg Prevost are longtime employees at the House of Guitars. In the suit, they are represented by lawyer Paul Nunes, who has played keyboards on several of their albums. It's not the sort of place you go to to pick something up, you just kind of poke around until you find something interesting. Of course, I'm very much not a musician - if I were I'd be afra
  10. My apologies for perpetuating a false rumor - sometime between 4PM and 8PM the above number changed the recording and there is NO mention of an opener at all. Looks like Kliph got through after all.... So, in an attempt at atonement, here are some more viciously false rumors for openers that almost no one will get: The Skycoasters!!!!!! Bahama Mama reunion!!!!!! Chesterfield Kings!!!!! What amazes me, though, is you can go up to anyone who works there, ask about the most obscure title, and they'll casually walk over to some stack of boxes, throw a couple around, and viola! The p
  11. I wonder if it would be worth swinging by the House of Guitars Saturday afternoon. It's only about a mile from the house, and I doubt Tweedy/Cline would be able to resist the temptation. I know it won't be an official in store appearance, but who knows. Any ideas as to what time would be best?
  12. I didn't believe it myself, but it's true. Call 585.222.5000 and press option 4. Wait a bit. It sure sounds like Flaming Lips. Edit: Can't find it on their site, though.....
  13. "Muzzle of Bees" (!!!!!) at Canal Town Coffee Roasters in Rochester. Turns out it was on the radio, but it counts!
  14. Central PA was playing Wilco/Tweedy? I can't chit for stations in central PA. Hell, I can generally only pick up two or three stations period for most of US 219 (though I suspect you were on 15). Where were you so I can be a bit more attentive in looking for stations next time....
  15. (Too many replies to quote individually.) Long story short, I know three other Wilco fans in Rochester, one in Elmira I converted (he'll be going to the show with me), and a couple on another board from Nashville and Houston respectively. That's it. While I have to admit to listening to very little music radio in Rochester, I can't think of a single station that would conceivably play them. There is one local radio "personality" who used to do a somewhat eclectic Saturday music show who I suspect is into them, but that's only a presumption. And even if he is a fan, he's been off the air fo
  16. If that's their categorization for Democrats, what sub-classification of Republicans would be familiar with Wilco?
  17. Almost positive my Rochester is listed as "with Special Guest", though who it is hasn't been determined yet. Here's a guess - who was the opener for part of the August tour? She's a friend of John, out of Brooklyn. She opened at Wilmington and McCarren Pool, possibly other places. This isn't a quiz, I honestly forgot. I think it's Jennifer O'something.
  18. Simple Twist of Fate at Starbucks this afternoon.....
  19. For locals and people coming up a day early, the Dryden Theater at the George Eastman House is showing Patti Smith: Dream of Life on the 5th (edit: of December) at 8PM. Rochester premiere, in fact. I see that there was some interest in this back in August, thought I'd let you know.
  20. Back in the early 80's I was a volunteer usher for the Aud, so I got to see every show there for free. Think of the Wilmington venue (Grand Opera House) x2
  21. Given the ticket prices for Neil and Wilco, it's all good! While the combo would be an awesome show, the drive and the like, especially after the mini-tour we did in August, would be just too much, (especiallyafter the truly hellish drive from NY to Delaware that Sunday ($3 remembers that, I'm sure))
  22. I can't believe it. I went to the main site today to finally nail down where exactly I was going to catch them with Neil. ROCHESTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Completely and utterly blown away! Got my tix today. I am so close to running around the room screaming like a little kid it's not even funny! Hopefully I can play good Wilco host to the out-of-towners, ask away for any recs you may need.
  23. Just a quick check in from someone else's song (er, computer). Awesome show! We saw them for the first time in Feb in Cleveland, and prior to that show I couldn't get my wife to listen to them for anything. Now, after three shows (we also went to Wilmington), she was going through my iPod looking for the concerts I'd d/l'ed!!!! I was just a tad disappointed that sections of the set list were a bit similar to Wilmington two nights previously (I know, tough problem to have), but just a touch. Called the opener for the second straight show, and got my request (Muzzle). The crowd was very enth
  24. The set list should also include Company in my Back, early in the show. We had a great time, even considering we were ALL THE WAY in the back (OK, I exaggerate, we were three rows from the top of the house). The balcony was kind of dead til the encores, sadly, but the sound was great and the band was pretty tight (other than JT's lapses of concentration ) The ride down was truly hellish. We left Rochester about 1
  25. great reference! I haven't seen that movie in years. How's this for a depressing fantasy pitching line: * 20.2 IP * 0 W * 1 S * 13 K * 2.61 ERA * 1.06 WHIP I get three quality starts, no wins.
