  1. Eyes of the World from 3/29/90 with Branford Marsalis may be my favorite nice weather, ride around in the car song.
  2. Only posting this since Wilco use Frontgate. This past Tuesday, Frontgate held a pre-sale for a 2nd Furthur show at the Mann in Philly. I got on and scored 3 row center in the Pit. Got an e-mail at 9:42 this AM that they made a mistake and everyone is getting moved back up to 20 rows. I got moved 5 rows back and am now all of the way on the side. Total BS. Didn't even realize the regular TM onsale was at 10 this morning or i would have tried to get my tickets back. They say they are refunding shipping and fees but this bad business. I guess sort of buyer beware for future Wilco sales
  3. As soon as I saw the topic was going to gush about Making Movies but got beaten to the punch so I'll give their final record, On Every Street, some love. I seem to remember a lot of nighttime drives with that record when it came out in '91. Since it was 6 years since Brothers in Arms, I think Dire Straits kind of left the public consciousness and couple that with the fact that there really weren't stand out singles, that record isn't really remembered but I loved it. Haven't listened to it in years, might pull it out this weekend.
  4. I hear you, I think I read the supper's ready thing too. My guess is that what ended up on Duke is pretty much what the Duke suite would have been, maybe minus more of a link track between Turn it On and Duke's travels. In concert, Turn it on ended cold and Duke's travels picks up with the cold drums opening (I just checked), I suppose they may have been more linked but you would think if they had the link written, they would have played it in concert. Who know's, maybe after Turn it on again evolved into a real song, they we're like "shit, this song is too good to be buried in one suite."
  5. Pull down one of the Duke tour shows where they played the Duke suite in order or just upload Duke to your I-tunes or whatever and sequence as such: Behind the lines>Duchess>Guide Vocal>Turn it on Again>Dukes Travels>Duke's End. It's all there on Duke, they just felt that that combo made one album side much stonger than the other so they broke it up.
  6. LOL Ok, I'll have a go: Behind the Lines/Duchess Back In NYC Counting Out Time Squonk The Musical Box Inthe Cage/CinemaShow/Slippmen/Afterglow Firth of Fifth Cinema Show Full Version Eleventh Earl Of Mar Lamb/Musical Box Medley from Seconds Out Blood On the Rooftops Cul De Sac I'm sure I've missed some but gotta run... Edit Add Dancing w/the Moonlit Knight Deep In The Motherlode Paperlate (I Know but I'm a sucker for those horns) which leads to No reply at all Watcher of the Skies Los Endos Lilywhilte Lilith
  7. Last night in Chicago: I: Playin in the Band > Born Cross-Eyed > Eyes of the World > Jack Straw > Wharf Rat > Uncle John's Band > China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider II: Scarlet Begonias > Fire on the Mountain, New Potato Caboose > St. Stephen > The Eleven > The Other One > So Many Roads, Help on the Way > Slipknot! > Franklin's Tower E: Box of Rain > Johnny B. Goode Wow.
  8. I'll go ahead and amend my previous comment from "sort of dumb" to "very f'in dumb" Been a long time since I've listened to this, forgot how inane these were, thanks for the reminder. I do still like this song musically though.
  9. I guess I'll be contrarian here and say that I kind of like Mouses Night, at least musically. The lyrics are sort of dumb. On the flip side, I think One For the Vine is little too long. I consider Wind and Wuthering my favorite Genesis record but I'm not sure I'd put any song from it in my top 5 Genesis tunes. I just think it's a really strong overall listening experience.
  10. I got it. Sounds great, listened to Moonlit night/Musical Box and it is awesome. For some reason, when I import this into winamp, the first track, intro, and the last track, interview with Phil, don't come over, I can't figure out why. If I click on them in their folder they play in winamp but they won't import, very weird. SInce it's not part of the show I don't really care but it bugs me that they don't come over. Thanks again for the link. Have you heard the Montreal SBD from Duke tour? Pretty great. It's up on Dime. Good name for your external HD. I saw those complete years for
  11. I should have figured, we use % with our work DB. Just don't like to think about work at home.
  12. Sweet, I'm on dime. I now have a project for tonight, it'll be a break from all the Dead I've been pulling down. Thanks much for links, I appreciate it. Searching on dime is one of the more frustrating excersizes there is. You type in "Genesis" and you get 3,000 torrents that have a G in it or some thing. If have no idea how that search engine works.
  13. Straight out of Spinal Tap. If I'm Bobby and the bassists wife is telling me what to play, I'm out of there like Nigel. It's in "doubly."
  14. More of a percussionist, didn't have a full kit, just a lot of stuff to bang on. Yeah, the chicks really added to Passenger. Not really sure why they weren't used on Unbroken Chain though, they would have really helped there. Considering there was female vox on the album version, you would think they'd be used. Maybe they're paid by the song :-)
  15. I always loved the sound of Mickey and Billy together but I thought Joe and the other guy really sounded great.
  16. Hmmm, I thought the downloads sounded pretty good to me before I saw them. You how it is though, when you're there it always sounds good because you are there and you want it to sound good.
  17. I will, any Matrix or SBD you can point me to?
  18. I saw them in AC this weekend. I'm in the camp that Warren Haynes is very good guitarist whose style isn't ideal for dead tunes so I really like John K. His Stella Blue was incredible to me. The China>Rider>Wheel>Dark Star>Stella was just incredible to be there for. While I'd prefer as many original members as possible involved, if Mickey and Billy being out means no Drums/Space, I'm all for it. I think you'll enjoy yourself if you take it for what it is. It's not the Grateful Dead but I thought it was an amazing facsimile. Is it a little weird that they have a guy trying t
  19. Having been a senior in high school when Invisible Touch came out, I am forever fried on that record. It's certainly well produced but it's not my cup of tea. It's funny because I'm huge fan of well produced pop, just not Genesis' well produced pop. Fading Lights is great. I also like Driving the Last Spike and Living Forever from that record.
  20. Really? And Then There Were Three is my least favorite record from that era and have reisited downloading torrents of '78 shows because of all of the ATTWT material. Maybe I'll have to check it out. I love the Duke tour, great mix of old and new. LOL. It's that self titled '83 record with Mama all of those Lucky Charms shapes on the cover. That's what we called it back in the day.
  21. I actually think Lamb is better than Selling England but you do have to sift through some of the 2nd disc filler. Disc 1 is pretty f'in solid, love Back in NYC and Counting Out Time. Hard for me to listen to In The Cage without the Cinema Show/Slipperman/Afterglow medley to follow though. I'm kind of the weird Genesis fan in that my favorite period is 76-80. For me, the songwriting got stronger and more focused. At Abacab they kind of lose me although there are some good songs from it (and the sessions) but with Lucky Charms and Invisible Touch I'm gone, except for Home By The Sea and Do
  22. Gonna give The Who some love here, been my fav since '82, co-favorite band with R.E.M. for the last 20 years. If you are not familiar, track down a copy of Live at Leeds, Who's Next and Quadrophenia. No better Rock 'n Roll has been made. Others I probably like more than Wilco are Brian Wilson/Beach Boys, Pink Floyd, Grateful Dead, Beatles, The Band, the Stones altough right now, except for the Dead, I probably listen to Wilco more than any of the above. Acts that Wilco have gone by on my favorites list would be Joe Jackson (by a nose) Little Feat, Steely Dan, Bowie, Genesis, Zevon, Stevi
