  1. I don't have a lot of funds to spare at the moment, but I made small donations to the campaigns of Warnock and Ossoff. This Mississippi native (who grew up with Stacey Abrams and her sister Leslie, who's a federal judge) is very proud of Georgia.
  2. I can't think of a better birthday gift for my 46th (Nov. 5) than news of the election of our 46th president. I've been feeling equal heaps of joy and relief all day.
  3. If Biden wins Georgia it would pretty much make up for my Braves collapsing again in the playoffs.
  4. Extremely concerned at this point. It's looking like a possible repeat of 2016, which is nauseating.
  5. In 1942 both Citizen Kane and The Maltese Falcon were Best Picture nominees. Neither won. Last night I watched the movie that beat out both to win the big prize.
  6. Comfort is a great word to describe the album. After one listen it's right up there with Warm and Warmer for me.
  7. Today's the ninth anniversary of R.E.M.'s retirement.
  8. Just finished this excellent book tonight. Highly recommended for fans of Erik Larson or anyone interested in history (specifically World War II).
  9. Today is the 15th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina's landfall. The hurricane and the aftermath were very surreal experiences. 10. Such a great loss that will surely deprive the world of a lot of great music that would've come from him. I believe I only saw him perform once - at Jazz Fest in NOLA about 11 years ago. He played on a small stage and delivered the goods on that particular day. A few years ago I was asked to organize a small music festival for a friend in the Mississippi Delta. The caveat was that there was no budget. I researched artists who had some interest in or connect with the artist whose memory was the focus of the event, and JTE came up somehow. I sent a Hail Mary e-mail to his people, and although I
  11. Happy birthday, Jeff! By my math your music has been a part of my life for 25 years. It's like a good friend who's stuck with me through different stages of my life: college, my wilder (wild for me anyway) 20s, my 30s, and the first half of my 40s. Thank you for that music and for sharing so much of yourself and your family with us. You da best!
  12. It was a very good day for new releases.
