  1. Saw JoJo Rabbit and The Irishman last week and took my mom to see A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood tonight. Loved JoJo Rabbit, especially Roman Griffin Davis, who plays JoJo, and Thomasin McKenzie, who plays Elsa. Maybe it's because I had no expectations going in, but I was very impressed with this film. Even the details were appealing. The Irishman was a good gangster movie, but three and a half hours of almost anything is too much. I liked it, but I don't think it lives up to the hype. A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood was good because of Tom Hanks. I wasn't crazy about the scrip
  2. I'm not aware of anything on the horizon, but a new Decemberists record is always welcome.
  3. Wow. How has it been 25 years? I didn't discover Wilco until May of '95, as I didn't know about Uncle Tupelo and was in school in London during the spring semester of '95. What a magical time in my life - a time with which I'll always associate Wilco and A.M. Happy 25th to one of my all-time favorite bands, and thank you for providing the soundtrack for so many seasons of my life.
  4. I saw Motherless Brooklyn and The Lighthouse during the past week. Enjoyed both though I'm still trying to figure out The Lighthouse. Willem Dafoe is amazing.
  5. The show was incredible. It was a bucket list show for me, and he and his band didn't disappoint. You're in for a treat.
  6. Today's the five-year anniversary of the death of one of my good college friends. He had been treated for melanoma after college, and it returned in an advanced stage. There's been far too much death in my life in recent years.
  7. Because I've dealt with far too many of these types in a close and personal way, and I need to find a way to fix the damage they did.
  8. The Light the Night Walk with Team Susan Miller Tweedy, who's also a rock star in my book.
  9. It definitely doesn't grab me after several listens. I prefer Jeff's two recent solo efforts over Ode to Joy. I think I'll just have to accept the fact that the version of Wilco I prefer has been gone for a long while and isn't coming back. It's certainly not bad. I actually enjoy most of the songs. It's just that nothing sticks out to me. As with most Wilco albums over the last 10-12 years, I don't see myself longing to hear this five years from now. That being said, I'll continue to buy each of their offerings in advance without having to hear it. They've earned it. Twenty years from now if
  10. Hiss Golden Messenger. My first live music experience since Solid Sound.
  11. I was upset with the Braves for not signing him, but so far it's looking like they were also smart for passing on him. And the Braves are NL East Champs!
  12. Thanks for the passwords. I decided to be fiscally responsible, so I'm gonna sit it out. I have upcoming auto repair bill that's going to run about $700. Plus it's right before Christmas, and I'm sure I'll have family obligations and other plans that will conflict. I'd love to be there, but sitting it out is the right thing to do.
  13. Yep. And Cavan Biggio (Craig's kid) hit for the cycle last night, making the Biggios only the second father-son duo to accomplish that feat.
  14. Dammit. More temptation. I'd just about talked myself out of it. Seriously, thanks for the heads-up. Decisions...
  15. I forgot about today's presale. Guess if I go I'll have to wait til Fridays general on-sale and take whatever I can get. Maybe it's a sign that I need to save my money instead.
  16. And my Braves just lost Charlie Culberson and Johan Camargo for the rest of the season. They were important contributors off the bench. Bummer.
  17. This Braves fan is very happy with the season so far. Not sure if they can get past the Dodgers, but I'd say they're ahead of schedule in terms of their rebuild. Alex Anthopoulos should be a strong contender for exec of the year. He's done a masterful job at adding pieces to the organization's young core of talent. I was the team's biggest critic in April, but I'm happy to be eating crow on an almost nightly basis these days.
