  1. What he said. Performing them live isn't the issue, but releasing them for purchase is... At least the one they caught on tape. I thought I recalled reading in Greg Kot's book that it happened on more than one occasion on the Being There tour...
  2. I wish Wilco would one day get Sunloathe in the setlist rotation.
  3. Mine too. Hardly anyone ever seems to throw that one out there when talking about that record, or Jeff's songs in general.
  4. A buddy of mine found a typo in the printed lyrics of the Sukierae vinyl sleeve. First line, middle stanza of "Low Key," where he sings "...but I'm gonna love you the same." Printed lyrics read "But I'm going love you the same." He just tweeted Jeff and Spencer to see if he could get a prize.
  5. I've got a turntable that can rip vinyl...but I don't have the Summer Noon 7" - if I could help I would, although I thought we weren't supposed to ask for free copies of commercially available material around here...
  6. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=how+do+you+rip+a+youtube+file+into+an+mp3+file
  7. The b-side will surface, no doubt.
  8. I tend to go with the narrative more so than the numerical score. I think in a lot of instances they're produced by two different people, in the same way the person who pens an article isn't the same one who writes the headline. And the two don't always jive.
  9. I know it was 10+ years ago. The point I was trying to articulate is that they once held Wilco in very high regard but took them down several pegs after AGIB -- agreeing with your point.
  10. That was an outstanding read. The Atlantic publishes some terrific stuff. Thanks for sharing!
  11. YHF received the almighty 10 from Pitchfork. If I recall, there was some backlash in the year or two following, but they still hold it up pretty high. Summerteeth was just .6 points shy of a perfect score, and that review was GLOWING.
  12. That's the exact same rating they gave W(TA). The Whole Love got a 6.9, and in my mind is exponentially better than its predecessor. Pitchfork is confusing. I'm still holding out to listen to Sukierae until next week.
  13. Seems like an awful lot of extra work when using the ">" and "
  14. I'm holding out and avoiding the NPR stream, too. Just one more week until it's officially released, then I'll dig in...in the car.
  15. I'm always struck by the brevity of his records. Single Mothers was no different -- it was over before I even realized it. Gave it a few more listens and it just didn't resonate with me the way Midnight at the Movies and Harlem River Blues did.
  16. I haven't heard anyone compare this to Being There.
  17. I for one don't really miss the tunes, except maybe One Wing as performed solo by Jeff. It's terrific in that setting.
  18. Thanks for posting. At this point, I think I'm ready to stop reading about Sukierae and actually hear it.
  19. I might have to give Austin another listen. The set list is definitely impressive on paper, but the first few times I listened I couldn't get into it. They sounded tired, including Jeff's voice.
  20. I'd love to hear the band throw down A.M. in its entirety as a nod to their roots. It really is a good album.
  21. I've got Red Rocks, Reno, Terminal 5, Stubb's and night 2 of Solid Sound (the Wilco set, not the cover set). All have their charms and are super-tight performances. If I had to pick 2, I'd say Terminal 5 and Solid Sound. They break out of the "tour set list" and include lots of tasty Summerteeth tunes and other deep cuts.
  22. Playing Mr. Mom with my 20-month-old daughter and eight-week-old son while my wife has a night out with the girls. Getting boxes of my childhood and teenage stuff out of my mom's basement as she prepares to move. And maybe, just maybe, if time allows, catching some football.
