I guess I need to spend more time with the CRB releases. I just haven't latched on to them at all -- maybe it's because I'm not well-versed in the Dead. I find a lot of it...sleepy.

I'm loving this, and the one before it. Love the weird effects and trombone mixed in with the electric 12-string. Spacey-folk-Americana.

Interesting. Hard to believe that song is 10 years old. I have to wonder if Jeff is interested in retreading something from a previous era, but I'd dig some new tracks with that vibe. Maybe not an entire album's worth, though.

They have others that are straight-up Mexican-style. I was simply pointing out that one of my favorite products happens to have chicken -- since it was suggested that chicken isn't worth a damn. I'm sorry I didn't go into the whole menu for you.

When I spent a semester in Spain about 12 years ago, my host mother would frequently cook and serve rabbit in different variations. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. I'd try rabbit tacos.

There's a Mexican-style taqueria in my town that serves the most mind-blowing buffalo chicken tacos. And steak tacos. And pork tacos.

That's my favorite track off SRO. Wish I could have seen them play that live in that era. The first time I saw them the show had plenty of Dirty South and Decoration Day mixed in, with a little bit of SRO, but it was 2006 and they were touring behind Blessing and a Curse, so the setlist was predominantly stuff that just-ok record. Isbell was still in the band, but I'm pretty sure they were all fed up with each other at that point. It wasn't a very inspired performance. The two times I've seen them since (last year and this year) were far superior shows.

I tried Teeth Dreams three or four times and just couldn't get into it. I haven't really gotten into anything as much as Boys and Girls in America, and Stay Positive. This is how they closed the St. Louis show. One by one each member walked off the stage with their instrument feeding back and looping; Jay Gonzalez first, with huge, swelling chords on the organ; then Cooley, followed by Patterson and Patton a minute or so apart, all of their guitars blasting; then Brad Morgan was by himself just pounding out the drum beat while all the feedback was showering over the place. They will. I saw them in St. Louis a few months ago and it was a great rock show -- just as good as when I saw them with Isbell.

I'm just glad they're going to make the recordings available. I'm within reasonable driving distance to a couple of these shows, but they're both happening weeks before my second child is due and I can't be on the road. Really excited to hear what this band and these tunes sound like.

Usually there's some kind of advantage to pre-ordering -- such as an instant download or another benefit. I guess I'm just trying to see what the advantage is to pre-order it instead of just waiting until it's available.

Hey, that's cool. I wonder if the live shows will come out before the solo album is released. But why the pre-order with a digital product? It's not like they're going to run out. Couldn't one just wait until the shows are posted in the Roadcase and order them then?

I don't know if I'd call it a return to form, mainly because they've evolved through very distinct eras with different sounds and lineups -- so to which point does it return? Not sure. I know there are a few folks here who refer to The Dirty South as their last great record; others say BTCD is the last great Truckers record, although that record - which is terrific - also was more than a little bloated. It could have had 4-6 songs trimmed off and been a true classic. I'd say top-to-bottom EO is probably their strongest and most balanced since BTCD. EO is definitely more muscular than Go Go B

Southeastern does kick a lot of ass. Track-for-track, I'd take it over English Oceans -- but I do also enjoy that album quite a bit. It's great to hear Mike Cooley getting more songs on the records.
