Which, in the grand scheme of things, is what's most important. If Sue getting better and getting the support she needs from Jeff means no Jeff solo record or Wilco activity, that's fine by me. They have given us a lot of music to enjoy. I've got a lot to sustain me and I look forward to new stuff coming out whenever the time is right for them.

Between Jeff and Spencer, all the instrumentation is covered, assuming it will be a guitar-bass-drums record. Maybe Pat or MIkael on keys -- or someone else if he's turning to musicians outside of Wilco to contribute.

Do you care that Beck has a new album coming out

MOJO gives the new record 5-out-of-5 stars in their review. I'm curious about the whole article just based on this snippet: http://www.mojo4music.com/11582/beck-morning-phase-people-would-yell-at-me/ -
You're welcome! We should all really thank member tommyjacobs for setting up and maintaining that site. It's incredible. I usually visit once or twice a week.

So good. Like this: http://sooutoftune.org/concerts/202 They also opened their Kansas City show in December 2011 with Less Than You Think >> Art of Almost.

It's probably my favorite too. Love the shows from 1998 that really honed in on the A.M., Being There and Mermaid Avenue sound. http://sooutoftune.org/concerts/525

They sound like Coldplay trying to sound like U2.

Would love a solo album from Jeff. I do not think, however, he is interested in re-recording Wilco material for a solo record. I would think he has other songs that may not work in the Wilco setting (like all those Golden Smog tunes he wrote back in the day) and the album would highlight those songs. I think most of us here would rather hear new songs from Jeff than solo takes on Wilco songs, which we've already heard in many settings.

I saw those shows in the ITunes store -- a run at the Fillmore, I believe. They're $11.99 each.

Thanks for the recommendations, everyone. I'll do some poking around. I have to admit I was the same way until about a month ago. I was only familiar with the hits from SYMM, plus Remedy, all of which were played to death on the radio. I made a trade with a buddy of mine: the Wilco catalog for the Black Crowes catalog. Both of us had been curious about each other's favorite bands and were not well-versed at all in the range of their material. It has turned out to be one of the best music swaps I've done in a long time. Amorica/Tall/Band is some of the best rock 'n roll I've ever heard.

I realize now I could have shared a little more information to narrow the search. Of course, sometimes the live shows from an era aren't as beloved as the records, or vice versa. But a good show is a good show. At any rate, my favorite record from the early years, front-to-back, is Amorica. I also really enjoy The Lost Crowes - the "Tall" and "Band" sessions, so you could say my favorite era right now is 1994-1997. Fast-forward, I also really like quite a bit of Warpaint and BTFUTF.

For a new Crowes fan who has digested their whole catalog and is now ready to dive into some live sets, can anyone recommend the best eras? Or favorite individual shows?

That's a nice win!

Woah. Never seen that before. Looks older than 2007.

I could get on board with Sunloathe. Actually one of my favorite tracks off TWL.

Now Playing: February, 2014

My favorite Beck album. I have the iPod on shuffle today. Two Uncle Tupelo songs came up back-to-back, the first being "I Wish My Baby Was Born," followed by "Postcard." It was a rather jarring transition, yet it reminded me of how well those guys could go from a hushed, haunting folk song to the raw power and energy of a punk tune -- and even blend the two in a single track. -
A buddy of mine works at a liquor store on occasion to pull in some extra dough. The other day he was playing Summerteeth (his favorite record after I turned him on to Wilco) through the store's sound system and had the album on repeat most of the night. He told me that at least 10 different customers all asked him what music he was playing, and that it was GREAT.

According to one Pitchfork reviewer, Kozelek is actually taking a shot at Nels and Wilco. (8th paragraph in a very long review) http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/18860-sun-kil-moon-benji/

I'm calling a four-way tie between these and Pieholden Suite.
-
I did too.

Ah, I had a feeling if I waited long enough they'd release Kansas City and Denver. I went to both of those shows and they were magnificent. Although it is disappointing that "Solitaire" (and the other WTA) songs are omitted. That was such a wonderful opener in KC.

If you're referring to the rooftop concert/recording then I may have to reconsider my list. I might just toss in that entire session. -

I could get on board with that, but I'd scratch "Love You To" and "Within You Without You." Just George and a bunch of Indian musicians on those; not much involvement from the rest of the group. Since I already said "Weeps" I'd go with "Taxman," or "Something," which really was the George show. Or if we were going to the early days, "Everybody's Trying to Be My Baby."
