  1. This got posted in the comments on Wilco's Facebook post about this show: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kuuh3XEIC6U
  2. I love going through it and making fun of the ridiculous products and prices.
  3. This is terrific and will get you in the spirit. I love ripping apart these catalogs when I see them. The 2013 Haters Guide to the Williams-Sonoma catalog http://deadspin.com/the-2013-haters-guide-to-the-williams-sonoma-catalog-1481230580
  4. You're welcome! The Owl & Bear is terrific. I've spent a lot of time there.
  5. Maybe "The Collected Jeff Tweedy 1997-2003?" http://wilcoarchive.com/Tweedy%20Jeff%20-%201997-2003%20Collected/
  6. There are several good solo acoustic versions of I'm Always in Love. The first few that come to mind are: Lounge Ax, 3-26-1998, audience recording that sounds like a soundboard, before Summerteeth was out and played in a totally different arrangement than the "standard" solo acoustic versionHarper College, 3-5-1999, nice soundboard recording, very quiet audienceMandel Hall, University of Chicago, 2-25-2006, also a very quiet audience, the "standard" solo acoustic arrangement but played on a 12-string!
  7. Many of Wilco's records are wonderfully sequenced from start to finish. Within those records there are great pairings of songs that pack an extra punch when paired together. The exercise is this: go through each proper Wilco studio record and name your favorite two-track sequence. Share a little bit why you like that sequence, if you wish. I'll go first. AM: Blue-Eyed Soul à Too Far Apart I love how the drum pattern that kicks open Too Far Apart sounds like a continuation of Blue-Eyed Soul. Great way to finish off a humble debut. BT: Say You Miss Me à Sunken Treasure End of side 1 and
  8. That's a good one, too. That whole performance is great.
  9. I have a vinyl copy of The Early Beatles, among a few other American releases. The Beatles camp won't get me to buy that box set, though. I have The Beatles: In Mono and that's pretty much the holy grail. I don't need those chopped-up albums, unless it's an original copy of Yesterday and Today with the butcher cover.
  10. I prefer the album version of "I'm Always in Love" to the current arrangement with the noisy guitar replacing the synth part.
  11. Live, in the main "theme" of the song, they're switching from an A chord to a D chord. The studio version stays on the A chord.
  12. It's also that I want to hear The Beatles every day. Whether it's listening to one song in the midst of a wide-ranging shuffle, playing a few licks on the guitar, or singing/humming a melody to my 11-month-old daughter, their music just makes me feel good, which is something I enjoy. Don't get me wrong; I've gone through extended periods where I don't listen to them, but I always come back to them. They're just part of my musical DNA.
  13. I wasn't there, but seeing as no one has started this thread yet, I thought I'd share this from Wilco's Facebook page. 01 - I Am Trying to Break Your Heart 02 - New Madrid [uncle Tupelo] 03 - No More Poetry 04 - Cars Can't Escape 05 - Remember the Mountain Bed 06 - Sunken Treasure 07 - Dawned On Me 08 - You And I 09 - A Magazine Called Sunset 10 - A Long Time Ago 11 - Bull Black Nova 12 - One True Vine 13 - Pecan Pie [Golden Smog] 14 - Either Way 15 - Born Alone 16 - Jesus, Etc. 17 - California Stars 18 - Laminated Cat (aka Not For The Season) 19 - Shot in the Arm Encore: 20 - Kamera 21 - P
  14. Spiders solo acoustic is terrific. I prefer the band's performance on AGIB over live versions. That guitar work from Tweedy on record is just...can't even describe it. He may have felt crappy during those sessions, but the way he expressed it through his playing is terrifying and beautiful at the same time. I'm with you on this one. I also prefer Mermaid Avenue tunes like "Hesitating Beauty" and "California Stars" as they appeared on record. They just have a little more "thump" to 'em.
  15. He has done the unamplified last tune at every solo show I've seen since 2006 -- except he didn't do it in Denver. Maybe the loud, obnoxious crowd in KC two days prior soured that for him. I'll beer understand the need to "wahoo!!!!" in the middle of a performance such as that, like you're at a Van Halen concert.
  16. Yeah, oops. Sorry. Read this part -- Here's the game: Take the name of any Wilco song or album, and in place of only one of the words in the name, substitute the word "chicken" -- and went nuts. Just another example of the importance of reading all the instructions before you begins something.
