  1. How about a series of official live recordings from the different lineups? There are a lot of soundboard and audience recordings out there of mixed quality -- maybe there's something in the vault that hasn't been put out yet?
  2. If getting a chance to jam with Jeff onstage or in a living room is wrong, I don't wanna be right.
  3. My 10-month-old really can't make any of these decisions right now, but we skipped the whole "Baby Bach" or "Mozart for Babies" thing and play our usual stuff around the house and in the car. Wilco, The Beatles, etc. I also play guitar and sing to her a lot. My brother's 10-year-old loves Wilco, always asks to have it put on in the car. His 8-year-old loves Katy Perry.
  4. For some reason, this phrase really bothers me: "Tweedy was obligated to come play a show for about 30 people." That word always just has a negative connotation for me, like you're doing something you don't really want to do. Jeff does these things for charity, and that whole idea was really downplayed.
  5. I am listening to Before the Frost for the first time. This is really solid.
  6. Old thread...news on DBT's next record: http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/5785805/drive-by-truckers-set-new-album-for-february-its-done-its-in-the-can-its-good
  7. Well, now that Wilco has posted a new Tweedy show in the Roadcase, I'll listen to it a few times to get ready for the two solo shows I'm seeing next month. http://wilcoworld.net/#!/roadcase/jeff-tweedy-solo-live-in-boulder-co-2011/
  8. A friend just passed it to me this morning. I like it. The arrangements are pretty sparse, but I think too much more would get in the way of those harmonies. Talented young women for sure.
  9. I've been on a Wilco break for a few months, mainly because I've been playing catch-up with a lot of records I've missed. I usually listen to Wilco more in the fall. AGIB always has had a very autumnal feel to me. Recently put together a Wilco autumn playlist.
  10. I did as well. I can't help but include "Pecan Pie" in an autumn playlist, but I also think a song like "Please Tell My Brother" is appropriate for autumn and the holiday season. That sense of longing, missing family members, and reaching out to people in the midst of the usual chaos of life. And "Long Time Ago" has a feeling of nostalgia, recollecting childhood memories and such -- another thing I seem to do more during the fall.
  11. That's crazy -- I made a nearly identical mix yesterday! Also tossed in a few Mermaid Avenue and early Golden Smog tracks.
  12. Golden Smog - Pecan Pie Drive-By Truckers - The Thanksgiving Filter
  13. Thanks! I'm a smitten, proud papa of a first-timer. :-)
  14. Isbell growing on you at all? Thought I recalled you saying you weren't moved by the new release.
  15. I'm just gonna drop this here: http://digitaldeconstruction.com/meet-balls-disturbing-testicular-cancer-mascot/#.UnELsHm9Kc1
  16. Glad to have discovered The Shouting Matches' record. I'll take this over Bon Iver any day.
  17. There are MA pressings on Reprise? I have an original but it's on Elektra, Billy Bragg's label.
  18. Thanks for the recommendations. I listened to the main albums yesterday and liked quite a bit of the first two, but you're right that they are different animals than the others.
  19. Finally getting around to listening to these bands. I dig 'em. And this:
