  1. A "New" track from McCartney for his next record. Sounds like 1967-era Beatles http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pE_1V0phMW8
  2. Love and strength to you and your family. May you find comfort in the support of family and friends, and peace and joy in the memories of his life.
  3. Gave this a test drive over my lunch break today. 1946 Harmony H1215 hollowbody.
  4. Interesting commentary. He should check his facts on Summerteeth, though. I believe the demos were cut at Willie's studio in Texas, but the record came together in Chicago when Jeff and Jay locked themselves in the studio. His ranking is way off, though. Way off.
  5. Both the Reprise and Nonesuch pressings play just fine. Not a thing wrong with either.
  6. A label, yes -- but Acuff and Rose were people! Depending on what kind of phone you have, if you hold the letter you're typing it should bring up options to add special characters.
  7. Might as well try "You Enjoy Myself" while he's at it.
  8. Is the new album going to sound like A.M....or Summerteeth?
  9. Don't know why, but this popped into my head. My older brother used to blast this in high school. Can't say the subject of this song is an "artist" per se...well, of another variety. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4l4QYOJEsE
  10. Went guitar shopping during my lunch break. Didn't come back with anything, but the two standouts were: A replica of Neil Young's "Old Black," as seen here. It was actually really cool. The luthier at the shop took a Gibson neck and headstock to an Epiphone body and did all the work to give it the vintage look. The mini humbucker sounded great, as did the P-90 in the neck. I'd never played around with a Bigsby tremolo before -- that took some getting used to.An early 1980s, Japanese-made Kent Telecaster knockoff. Maple neck with a turquoise-blue finish. Kind of like this. Someone put a humbuck
  11. My old band from high school used to play Down with Disease! In addition to those already mentioned here, if you're still looking for recommendations, I'd also suggest listening to and taking a crack at "Free," "Character Zero" or "Prince Caspian" from Billy Breathes, "Farmhouse," Back on the Train" and "Heavy Things" from Farmhouse, "Roggae" from Story of the Ghost and "Kill Devil Falls" from Joy.
  12. Ray LaMontagne, "Meg White" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HXsdodYvp8
  13. I love Jenny Lewis. She's come a long way from The Wizard and Troop Beverly Hills. Does that sign behind her say "cans?
  14. That set list does look pretty good. A few rarities in there.
  15. Still holding out / wishing for an Americanarama release.
  16. I've owned several different axes through the years -- a few varieties of Fender Strats, an Epiphone double-neck (a high school purchase), an Epiphone hollowbody, among others -- and probably about eight years ago completely ditched all my electric gear and went full-on acoustic. My two primary guitars are a Cordoba classical and an Epiphone AJ-220S. I have a Yamaha acoustic that I don't play...because it's autographed by all the members of Wilco. After giving it a lot of thought, I've decided to get back into the electric market. I live in a small town with two music shops, one of which is
  17. Just arrived today, all the way from Japan: An original 1999 Reprise pressing of Summerteeth. I can't wait to spin this thing tonight.

  19. In addition to the NPR stream, there is one here: http://www.thecurrent.org/feature/2013/08/18/first-listen-neko-case-the-worse-things-get-the-harder-i-fight
  20. That's just it: Wilco's other members were annoyed that they were denied opportunities outside of the band when Jeff was doing the Golden Smog thing. It's in those chapters about the early Wilco days.
  21. For anyone who has read "Learning How to Die," you may recall that this sort of practice was once frowned upon in Wilco -- and really not allowed. I wonder when they changed their mind about it. I for one think it's a good thing.
