http://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/prospects/2012/11/padres-yasmani-grandal-suspended-for-elevated-testosterone-level/ Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal suspended 50 for PEDs. Grandal is a hard-hitting young catcher that came over from Cincinnati in the Latos trade. I was high on this kid's potential, so this is disappointing.

When I voted for Obama in 2008 I voted with eight years in mind because of how much work needed to be done to recover from our disastrous state of affairs; so I was pleased with his victory last night. I have voted both ways throughout the years, as I am registered independent, but this time I did something I thought I'd never do: I voted straight ticket (D). Reason being: I don't like the way business is being done and how the Republican party has made it a point to be an obstacle to recovery, let alone progress. The kicker for me was during the credit rating issue when the R's said publicly, -

Fair enough, but if I'm the Giants I'm requesting to remove Cabrera from the list. Nobody representing the Giants and San Francisco is better than Melky Cabrera.

There used to be a time when we wondered how many years Josh Hamilton was going to get - in jail - if he survived, so I suppose his current "dilemma" is a good thing.

2003 era Wilco--bad or unpolished or just a whole other band?
The High Heat replied to Magnetized's topic in Just A Fan
As a bald man I can tell you that it only matters when it first starts happening. Tweedy's baldness is beginning a little later than most men. He'll find a look that works - I hope. The only member of Wilco I can envision doing the totally bald look (and pulling it off) is Mikael. He'd look pretty rad with no hair, but still wearing the glasses. -

Romney is just a terrifically wealthy man who thinks it's destiny to be President, and he's trying to get there any which he can. -
I think Hamilton will get 5 or 6 years with a couple of option years based on games played in the last two of those years. I still think Baltimore will be in on him. So far I've heard the Braves mentioned as a suitor, with both Chipper and Bourne off the books.

http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/fan_forum/heartandhustle/index.jsp?partnerId=aw-6710948160983745221-1053 The Giants Heart & Hustle nominee is Melky Cabrera!?!?! I hope Giant fans aren't stuffing the ballot box on this one. "The Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association's Heart & Hustle Award is voted on by Major League alumni and active players and is presented annually to a player who demonstrates a passion for the game of baseball and best embodies the values, spirit and traditions of the game." In related news, Mark McGwire is reportedly leaving St. Louis to become the Dodgers

Circumstances. People can become prisoners to their homes or neighborhoods after a hurricane. You can be on hold for long periods of time with insurance, contractors, power company, etc., plus you need to communicate with family. If someone wants to pay $100 to keep themselves entertained, ok. I do appreciate how you like to keep things simple, but sometimes simplicity isn't always available. And those people offering cheaper prices aren't right there where people need (or want) them. -

Yes, communication can be considered a need, depending on circumstance. If you're trying to run your business and you have no landline or internet; you're trying to arrange travel; needing to stay in touch with family; etc. I live in hurricane-central eastern NC and there isn't a storm that comes through where some stores try to charge $10 or more for a gallon of water. The state prosecutes them every time. There's a real difference between supply and demand costs vs. taking advantage of people. -

The only teams that will lose gate on a shorter season will the Yanks, Red Sox, Cubs (regardless of record) and playoff-bound teams. There's more money in post season anyway. I'd also like to see a 30 man roster in the first 2-3 weeks of the season, pushing back the minors opening and doing away with the expanded Sept. rosters. Or just have a 28 man travelling roster with a 25 man availability per game, meaning 3 guys per game would be ineligable to play today, but any of the them could play tomorrow - with a 4 or 5 day limit on being on reserve at a time. This could help out with bullpens and

I once figured out a system where the season was 148 games with IIRC 3 full rounds (or maybe 1 five and 2 sevens) of playoffs. I might still have it written down somewhere.
