2010 MLB - Playoffs and hot stove!
The High Heat replied to Duck-Billed Catechist's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
The Mariners have a huge and embarrassing problem with one of the prospects they received in the Cliff Lee trade. Despite this kid's talent, I'm kinda surprised Nolan Ryan didn't insist on cutting the kid loose when he was convicted. -

That's fine if you already are a manager! Listach has yet to become one at the big league level. I'm sure he's a heck of a guy, but he may not want to put out the wrong impression to GM's. Plus, even though he's much younger, we must remember Don Zimmer and what happens to coaches when they take on a player. You get thumped. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJWaGxVh-tI -
Condolences to you and your family, Richard.

Had a successful run as a manager in the Cubs system before landing the Nats 3rd base coach position. He's the one who gave the very large Volstad the welt on his face. He either knocked him with his helmet or rapped with his fist, there are conflicting reports. If he has aspirations of being a big league manager, he may want to stick to pulling guys off instead of jumping on the pile. -

Suspensions were handed out for the Nationals/Marlins fracas. Volstad got 6 games, Sanchez 3. Nats coach Pat Listach got 3, and he, as a coach, cannot appeal. And Morgan received 8 more games off in addition to the pending 7 for the Philly fan incident. Bowling over the Cardinals catcher and talking shit to Marlins fans were mitigating factors. There were others suspended, too, and everybody involved was fined as well. Most of the players should get their suspensions reduced, but even if Morgan gets his reduced, he's facing double digit days off regardless. -

True. Morgan's marked himself though. That catcher he took out (when he didn't have to) has a seperated shoulder, so emotions are high. No excuse, I know, but Morgan is cocky. The Marlins pitcher hit two other batters in the game. Control was not prominent in this game, obviously. For the record, I don't mind stealing when there's a huge gap in the score, especially if it's the losing team. This is an offensive era, so you keep playing to score. The Nats ended up scoring 10. In most games that gets you a victory. -

Morgan received a 7 game suspension last week for throwing a ball into the stands last week in Philly. He hit a woman in the head with it. I believe he's currently appealing the suspension, that's why he's still playing. I think he may have a hard time getting it reduced now. In fact he'll probably get more time for the fight and then taunting the Marlins' fans after it. And yes, the Sanchez shot reminded me of the WWE also! Looked like it was 10 Marlins against one Morgan. All things considered, he had it coming. -

I think we now know why Jeff Tweedy stopped wearing flannel. -
I think we'll pass on that video.

He may want to develop the craft of leaving on a high note.

I listen to XM's baseball programming through most of the day, but I don't turn it on until 10 am, when Dibs is going off the air. I can't take him. A couple days before the Mitchell Report came out a caller brought up the possibility of Clemens having used PED's. Dibble hung up on the guy immediately, telling us how ridiculous that statement was and that Clemens was successful by hard work all by itself. Never heard him apologize for his defense of The Rocket. He also brags from time to time about how the Reds had to pay the lady he hit with a baseball when he chucked it into the stands out o

Strasburg has torn elbow ligament, headed to TJ surgery. Fabulous news for the Washington Nationals.

You can "douchey" me all you want. I give a fuck? As far as your statement, you're right. I've had a good friend blow her brains out. She did in it private, in a parking lot of a state park after the park shut down for the evening. She left behind her family, including a son, but at least she didn't endanger anybody, nor did she leave herself to be found in that state by her family. Irrational, yes, but total disregard to others, no. I also know a man who used to drive tractor trailers for a living. He did so for years until the day a man used his rig as a means to kill himself. So much for "falling slowly." I'm just glad he missed Glen when he landed.

I agree with the literary greatness that is Chronicles. Bob Dylan is a great writer, and not just of songs. My "research" of Dylan comprises of Chronicles, Don't Look Back, and No Direction Home, and even I know about the "song and dance man" comment. I am glad, however, it's far more song than dance. Interesting conflict of opinions about song covers by Dylan, though. In No Direction Home, Dylan criticizes artists like the Byrds for covering his songs, but yet on his Theme Time Radio Hour show, he said song covering is becoming a lost great art form.
