Apparently the judiciary in NY state is just as fucked up as the politics! Next time I'm in New York I'm going to throw myself in front of some little twirp riding his Big Wheel so I can sue the pull ups off the little bastard! It'll be stealing candy from a baby!

It never happened, according to the famous "unnamed source." Teams can't in reality trade players for managers, but they can trade players of differing values in consideration of letting their manager out of their contract to go manage another club. The Devil Rays, for example, traded starting outfielder Randy Winn to Seattle for minor league infielder Antonio Perez, a marginal prospect, in part to compensate the Mariners for letting Lou Piniella leave Seattle for Tampa. -

Jose Guillen was left off the Giants post season roster not only because of poor play, bad attitude and injury, but also because he is under federal investigation for receiving shipments of HGH. -

With careful planning, rock 'n' roll can still be dangerous.

That could a hardship for teams playing in a cross-country series such as San Fran/Philly. The games run late, then they'd have to catch a late flight and then play a few hours later. It's especially more difficult if you're travelling east, as you lose hours in the process. Teams generally have off days in-season when travelling great distances. There may be supporters of shortening the season, but I suspect it'd be more likely that Spring Training would be shortened. The training aspect would be shortened, however, because Spring Training games are also popular with fans. -

Expanding the playoffs is all about the Benjamins. Interesting stat: Teams are always after pitchers who can pitch 200 innings. Feix Hernandez pitched 249 2/3 innings this season and 209 of those were scoreless innings. He's pitching more shutout innings than most pitchers pitch in total innings. A question has arisen about Benji Molina: There is a league championship ring and a World Series ring. Benji Molina played for both the Giants and the Rangers in 2010. Is Molina, guarenteed one ring for being on the American league champions or does he also receive one for playing on the Giants in -

Correction: The DS will not be extended next season. It is being considered for 2012, as well as other playoff scenarios such as adding more wild cards (please no!). -

Name of this band, please?! -
I've come across a couple of folks who still lament the days of UT and don't care much for anything that came after. To each their own, but I'd guess neither Tweedy nor Farrar have an interest in something like this. It would require, you know, communication, and Jeff and Jay haven't had that since they lost their original drummer.

And Larry Bowa is not the Dodgers 3B coach anymore, so LA has an opening for that position as well as bench coach. I sure hope Don Mattingly is smart enough to hire a former major league manager as his bench coach.
