  1. The Giants and Tim Lincecum avoid arbitration by agreeing to a two year deal.
  2. I was at that Sept. '04 Raleigh Wilco show as well. I remember thinking I'd like his songs if it weren't for all that horrible sound coming from his guitar. I guess that's from the looping, but I swear I thought he had a busted amp or something. And it wasn't the theater either (Wilco was phenominal and sounded great. I thought the roof would blow during Poor Places!) I've seen Arthur on a few tv spots and he's sounded great every time. I suppose he may be experimenting not only with sound, but also with audience comfort levels.
  3. Didn't Leyland promise Guillen he'd be the starting LF this season after Guillen pouted about being moved around, only to end up at DH, which apparently Guillen hated? You're right about Damon being a better OF in terms of getting to the ball, but it seems the last thing Detroit needs is another questionable defender in their spacious outfield. I suppose Ordonez can DH and Guillen could play right or Damon could even play CF if Jackson isn't ready, but, good god, they will be getting alot of ugly looks from the pitching mound.
  4. Someone on the Pirates has a brain.
  5. Yesterday on XM's baseball channel Scott Boras claimed the Yankees only talked to him once about Damon before they signed Nick Johnson. Boras is a damn good lawyer, so I would take his word with a grain of salt.
  6. I just saw this on MLB. It said Damon hasn't accepted and there is interest from Detroit and Tampa as well. The report stated the Braves offer may include deferred payments. His arm doesn't play well in Atlanta's and Detroit's OF.
  7. I knew you were talking to yourself. I was being unsexily coy/rude to no one in particular just for the fuck of it.
  8. Both Millar and Chad Tracy signed minor league deals to compete for reserve 1B/3B. They also signed Xavier Nady to a major league deal and still have Hoffpauir. Millar's advantage is his attitude, but his disadvantage is his right-handed bat. He swears he can still play third. Taking a flyer on a minor league deal where you only owe a percentage if you cut the player is alot different than guaranteeing money to a player like Damon. Johnny ain't signing no bush league deal. Lots of teams wouldn't mind having Damon, but only a couple may be willing to pay him close to what he and Boras deem ac
  9. Yes, many people consider Pavano to be a dolt, including a guy I know who went to high school with him. Me, I never met the man.
  10. The Mets will be reducing the height of Citi Field's centerfield wall by half.
  11. Only if nobody remembers the original subject matter.
  12. Even though I believe all of these statements to be true, I've been listening to it recently (after not touching it after a few spins upon release), and I've realized it's not as horrible as I first thought. For Wilco it's not great. I've changed my opinion from bad to : "Nice. Not thrilling, but nice."
  13. But it doesn't matter so long as the bloody leather gloves don't fit over the latex-gloved hands. See the beauty of loopholes?
  14. 'Overwhelmed' (competitive speaking).
  15. After two years off Byung-Hyun Kim was signed to a minor league contract by the Giants. At age 31 he's still got plenty opportunties to blow victories.
  16. Well, gee, under that scenario, Sir Stewart would be Santa Claus!
  17. This year's Ford Frick Award winner is none other than Jon Miller. About Frick-en time.
  18. Happy Birthday to the King of Via Chicago!
  19. Thanks. I knew there was a future (at that time) manager in that mix.
  20. I know he didn't do much for the Mets. Ryan said later he was just trying to stick around long enough to qualify for MLB's pension plan. I've also forgotten whom they traded him for.
  21. I knew there was another guy, but I couldn't remember the fucker's name.
  22. But are you as good at your job as the orthodontist is at his?
