Autumn Defense was excellent. In no particular order but not a complete listing, they played Back of my Mind, Tell Me What You Want, Full Five Paces, The Swallows of London Town, Huntington Fair, The Answer and Every Day. I actually enjoyed their set very much. Jeff's set was filled with the usual's with no surprises for me anyway and way too short. I don't think he played more than an hour and fifteen minutes including the encore. The only song I hadn't heard performed before by Jeff solo or Wilco was What's the World Got In Store. Jeff's encore with the full Autumn Defense band was pretty

I didn't read all the pages of this post so if someone has posted any Beach Boys songs I apologize. But here's one performed by Brian Wilson...

Free Mavis Staples MP3 album on Amazon today only
Sparky speaks replied to MWB's topic in Just A Fan
Yes, but the warning that accompanied it seemed pretty dire so I didn't want to risk it. It stated that someone might be impersonating the site. I just want to know if anyone else can log into their account or not before I bypass their warning. Edit: I got it to work and purchased this instead of Mavis Staples. Thanks for the heads up. Sorry. I bought mine from the theater.

You could have printed your own tickets for Tarrytown. Don't know if that is still an option at this late date.

Fire destroys Neil Young's warehouse...
Sparky speaks replied to Sparky speaks's topic in Someone Else's Song
Message from Neil Young... "My wife Pegi and I would like to thank the Belmont-San Carlos Fire Dept for doing such an exemplary job at our recent warehouse fire. A lot of archival items were threatened and the fire department did a first class job protecting them. We are lucky to have these professionals in our area. We are thankful that no one was hurt in the fire. Rest assured that we have the very best fire rescue and protection in San Carlos and Belmont. Lincvolt was severely damaged in the fire. We are still investigating the exact cause although it appears to be an operator error t -

Great show. They played from 8:30 to 12:00. Many long jams which were quite good. Most set lists from their week long stay in NYC were pretty varied from night to night. Didn't get to hear many of the songs I would have liked to have heard but it was their last gig of the week and I'm sure they were cognizant of not repeating too many songs from the previous nights. Set list from Setlist.fm Acoustic set: Jealous Again Roll Old Jeremiah Thunderstorm Tonight I'll Be Staying Here With You (Bob Dylan cover) What is Home Oh, The Rain (Blind Willie Johnson cover) Ballad In Urgency Wiser

I've seen Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band , Mavis Staples, John Doe, A Hawk and a Hacksaw, Andrew Bird, Everest, who played before them when Wilco opened for Neil Young and Pronto who opened for Jeff Tweedy.

After failing on pre-sale day for Tarrytown, I guess I lucked out today at noon. Got two for row J in the balcony but not without my computer slowing down at noon as I tried refreshing the site and the venue site refusing to confirm my order three times despite filling out all the pertinent fields on the purchase order. This was the hardest show to get tickets for in the twelve times I've seen these guys. They are either becoming too popular or the scalpers are using multiple, quicker computers to beat us all to the punch. Then again, there are only 900 seats.

Does anyone know the start time of the Tarrytown pre-sale?

Tweedy and Staples interview in the new MOJO Magazine. Some good pictures and some new insight in their relationship. It's the issue with Jim Morrison on the cover.
-
They will both be on The Colbert Report on Oct. 6 as well.
-
If Tweedy had nothing to do with this album, I wouldn't give it a listen. So with that in mind, it is pretty good but I still would not buy it. If I did, I'd end up listening to it a few times and probably never play it again. I would add the two Tweedy compositions to my Wilco collection and that would be the end of it. Don't get me wrong, I loved Mavis at Solid Sound. She ranks as the best opening act I've seen for Wilco in the twelve times I've seen them. Just not what I would listen to regularly.
