You can listen to the whole record now on the NYT's online music page (plus read an interview with David Longstreth) http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/08/arts/music/david-longstreth-of-dirty-projectors-on-the-new-album.html?_r=1

Ty Segall Band - Slaughterhouse Dirty Projectors - Swing Lo Magellan

Is anyone else really excited for the new Dirty Projectors record? It's probably my most anticipated release aside from the St. Vincent/David Byrne collaboration and I'll be seeing them here in Minneapolis on the 15th of July. A couple of songs have been released and I like what I'm hearing so far!

Patti Smith's Banga drops today! I'm a couple of songs in and I'm digging it so far. Heard the "April Fool" single awhile back and it got me really excited for this record (it doesn't hurt that Tom Verlaine lays down some delicious guitar lines on that track in particular). Anybody else plan on picking this up?

These are records I've given a fair listen to so far and how much I've enjoyed them: Andrew Bird - Break It Yourself (B+ High expectations mostly met) Beach House - Bloom (B+ See above) Father John Misty - Fear Fun (B Solid record and one I actually prefer to Fleet Foxes' most recent release) Grimes - Visions (B- Was really digging this initially but I've cooled on it a bit) Japandroids - Celebration Rock (A- Really fun rock and roll) Julia Holter - Ekstasis (A Prettyprettypretty) Lambchop - Mr. M (B+ Honestly my first exposure to Lambchop but I love it. Bill Callahan-esque, or is it the oth

Saw her last night at First Avenue here in Minneapolis. Incredible show. She was shredding whilst also being as charming and beautiful as ever. Notables include her crowdsurfing during Krokodile, a theremin solo on Northern Lights, her shout-out to anyone skipping their prom to be at the show (apparently the band had seen a number of party buses downtown, filled with painted high schoolers), and some really, really great takes on new and old material. I was able to snag a setlist and two picks(!) after the show.

Finally picked up a copy of this and I'm about 70 pages in. It's fantastic so far.

IMO, the closing run of Rising Red Lung, Whole Love, and One Sunday Morning holds its own with any of the previous Wilco records' final songs. They were some of my favorites from the record when I first heard it, but now that I've had a while to really contextualize each song within the whole album they're even better. Other songs I really loved early on were Art of Almost, Sunloathe, and Capitol City (which seems to be a love it or hate it song for many). They're still my favorites, but really, all the songs have grown on me. I think a big thing for me was sitting down with the lyrics and tak

It's an interesting thought experiment as Carl Sagan would say. I've wondered before what it would be like if Jim O'Rourke made another record with them, either in the past run of albums or at some point in the future.

Making my way through this now. Fantastic.

Looks like Duluth pre-sale allotment actually sold out. I'm planning on going to this one but couldn't make pre-sale this time around. I imagine it will be GA for the show though. I've never attended an event at the Bayfront Festival Park. Anyone know if this is the case?

The 70's didn't suck. I'm only 22 and have enough sense to know this. Exhibit A:

You can count me amongst those who wish Jim O'Rourke still had a hand in making Wilco records.

I'm sure there are some Harry Nilsson fans in here. Just picked this out of the used record stacks at the Electric Fetus. His take on "As Time Goes By" is absolutely gorgeous.
