I'll echo some of the thoughts on this. I thought it was a fine session but it seems like they choose the same set of songs from the new record every time they do something like this (maybe falling back on easy rockers? ). It would have been cool to hear Sunloathe or Capital City or maybe even Message From Mid-Bar to spice things up a bit, but that's wishful thinking I guess. I do think they played the songs pretty tight on here and it was fun to hear Passenger Side but still a little lukewarm for me.

So this is something that I've been wondering about for awhile. Beginning at about the 7:20 mark in the title track from Televison's Marquee Moon there's this little build-up that sounds very similar to a section Nels' plays on a live version Handshake Drugs I've heard (It might be from KT or Ashes). Just thought I'd throw it out there and see if anyone else noticed the same thing. Seems like a nice little homage and fitting, as I believe Jeff got a guitar lesson from Richard Lloyd around the time work was being done for A Ghost Is Born and I think its definitely evident in his playing on that

Really great record. I got to see him and Thurston Moore when they came through Minneapolis earlier this year. Got to talk with him a bit after the show and shared a cigarette. Really nice guy and one of the first Rock Stars I've had the good fortune of speaking with for more than 20 seconds.

Saw her in Minneapolis in the McGuire Theater which is just south of 400 seats. Incredible performance. Also, I almost bumped right into Carrie Brownstein just after the opening set. She was clearly trying to stay under the radar but I heard a few others in the lobby say "Whoa that was the girl from Portlandia!" 2 guitar goddesses in one night. Pretty magical.

These are just some demos that will be played with a full band eventually, so I haven't taken the time to convert them into IAC-friendly files yet . Folded Golden Roses: Smoke Plan/Slosh:

Start this video just as the song begins, it actually syncs up quite nicely (The tags are a bit annoying, but you can get past them). I've been playing old tourism promo videos over songs lately and it seems to mesh together well in a wonderfully odd way. The 3:00 mark is wonderful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCGr3wJodF0

(This is me after going through the comments section for roughly a minute and a half).

This was one of the first tracks that really hooked me from the record. It's got some nice pace changes and interesting sound-sample breakdowns, if you will. Also, I love how they deliver the line "breathe in that country air!"

I sort-of like The National, Bon Iver, and Grizzly Bear. But fuck yes. This is correct.

I'm going to request Unlikely Japan. C'mon Minneapolis we can do this!

I got 4 tickets for the second row on the right side of the balcony (Dec. 6th). I then returned home to find the deluxe cd waiting for me! So Saturday was basically Wilco-Christmas for me. Or Wilchristmas. A friend of mine recently saw Fleet Foxes at the State and was really impressed with the place. I saw Sufjan Stevens at the Orpheum Theater last winter and another friend (who occasionally works at the State Theater box office) said the two were comparable. Both seem like beautiful spaces with good sound. This will be my first seated Wilco show and 3rd overall. I'm really excited.

I was a little sore about the score before I realized Pitchfork only has 35 points set aside for a band's career. It seems only 6.9 were left by the time The Whole Love rolled around.
