  1. Cormac McCarthy movies are always great...but the books are obviousy much, much better (waiting for Child of God) And, the Right Stuff is a classic western/frontier movie modernized with great acting by Sam Sheppard and Ed Harris...plus a great book by Tom Wolfe. EDIT: I now know The Right Stuff is an Oscar winner...still considered underrated?
  2. If anyone cares to know, I have yet to play one...and will not be buying one for some time (currently shopping for a new TV, dining table, furniture...)
  3. Almost made an ass out of myself at work with a hissy-fit...whew!
  4. PS - Looks like Milwaukee's Summerfest is getting two nights of Petty and ZZ Top...the one year I'm out of town over Summerfest...what's next, Wilco books three nights?
  5. I'm just trying to imagine how I would celebrate...
  6. The only valid concern they have is one of the girls was under the legal drinking age...(gasp) Now if they did drive the zamboni, then we may have to get the mounties involved.
  7. At the 2/20 Madison show I was in the only area on first level above the floor where about 20 people were sitting. Our seats...right in the middle of these sitters. I would have preferred to stand (I also would have preferred to drink my beer without a sippy-cup top - more on that later), but we sat and danced the shit out of our chairs and had a great time. From the looks of the immobile crowd around us, we would have had a hard time standing in front of them. Plus, after the show I noticed a guy a few seats down putting his shows back on...who takes their shoes off? A sitter...that's who!
  8. I need to adjust my searching methods. Thanks!
  9. Prices for Milw. Summerfest show: $112 (red sections), $92 (yellow), $72 (bench) and $42 (lawn). All prices include Summerfest admission.
  10. There we are...jimmyjimmy, where did you find that photo? yours? I can finally sleep at night...(sigh)
  11. Seeing as this is the only ZZ appearance on this tour (i think) I guess it's pretty special...regardless, I can't make that show anyway, so I'll be in Indiana with TP and DBT...
  12. Not to thrilled about ZZ Top opening in Milw. It would have been a great night with MMJ opening! Oh well...
  13. This is the closest thing I can find to it...in my head the size was a little bigger (plus the different finish)...pretty sure this isn't it...
  14. Negative...similar style (the double-cut semi-hollow)...smaller body, but definitely a green/yellow burst...no doubt.
  15. I have a handful of bands that all rotate through my number 1 spot: Wilco, Phish, Gov't Mule, The Band and Talking Heads.
  16. True...I looked and have found none...
  17. Tom Petty's website posted a note that there would be a major announcement this week. I assume it's going to be a summer tour, and I for one, am excited. I have had nothing but great experiences seeing TP in concert, because A) he always has great openers (Steve Winwood, Pearl Jam) he has an extensive catalog and C) great stage/light show. Does anyone else share this feeling? Or not...?
  18. Does anyone have any idea what this guitar is? It's the double cut-away, hollow-body, green/yellow burst...the headstock definitely had some white inlay work (as seen from row Q). By the headstock it looked like a Zemaitis...but I have seen no such model created by them. Thoughts? If this has been covered, please shush me and point me in the correct direction. Thanks!
  19. Geez! That Carrot Top photo scared the hell out of me...
  20. Yeah, but if there's another reason to have this guitar, I'd like someone to prove it to me.
  21. I'll be in row Q checking the tweets on my phone for accuracy. Thanks jcoulas!
  22. Fantastic! From what I read, this was the second night of the tour where he pulled out a phish acoustic set. The previous show in NY (I think) was the first night. It felt strange to see only Trey up there with an acoustic, but man, he hit the songs well and we just sang along. (A great shot of the acoustic set by my friend Katie P I is attached)
  23. Well, I bet any trouble stayed out of your way! I will admit, I do like the Paul Stanley Ibanez Iceman with the broken glass top...
