I'm done listening to Wilco. I guess Jeff thinks that only his NY fans deserve an Uncle Tupelo reunion. What a jerk.
-
Totally agree. I was just referencing this gem:

I think I've said this to you, but I saw them play a headlining gig the same weekend as ATP, and it was great. Impromptu solo version of Fire In My Heart caused by the PA breaking is one of the top concert moments I've ever seen. But ATP apparently wasn't a well received set by the band or the fans. And I've come very close to calling DD/LY my favorite, so no decline here. Anyway, I think at this point, Jeff is a far bigger star than Jay, and a reunion would reflect this. Son Volt seems to be doing well, but I'd be worried about a UT reunion attracting Wilco/Tweedy fans just because it's T

Charlottesville's all ages, and tickets are $35. Since I don't think Jeff would go out of his way to screw just a small slice of his fanbase, I'd say it wasn't his fault.

It's a shame Wilco has fans like you, always thinking about where the money is.

Super Furry Animals

There are 2/3 other SFA fans around here. I know PopTodd's a large fan. And Synthesizer Patel. Maybe someone else. But I cannot recommend the Furries highly enough. Best pop discography you'll find these days, in my opinion. Nine albums and nothing approaching mediocrity yet. -
Super Furry Animals

Super Furry Animals. The band that makes me classify Wilco as "favorite American band." -
First off, My Morning Jacket. Right now. Five night residency. Entire catalogue. I'm not saying it's a common thing, 'cuz it obviously isn't. But Wilco's also not the only band to do it. Now that that's out of the way: I could care less how big a band is. My favorite band, and the one that's affected my life the most, Super Furry Animals, is a relatively little known group from Wales that can hardly fill tiny clubs in the States. That shit clearly doesn't matter. I won't lie and say I've been a Wilco fan all along. But I've been a huge fan for 5/6 years now. That doesn't mean I'm in it for t

But the fans deserve this. Right?

I'm really not at all interested in this. I enjoy a bit of UT from time to time, but I'm far from itching for a reunion. Which is good, because I don't see it happening. Why would it? Wilco's (arguably) never been bigger. There's no reason to force a UT reunion anytime soon.

The Official Bob Dylan Thread

BS9 is good. It's not near as mindblowing for me as Tell Tale Signs was. But few albums are. Either way, it's a good set to have. I'd love to get the mono box set. But I held back. Maybe for Christmas. -
On and On and On Bob Dylan's 49th Beard Another Man's Done Gone I Shall be Released A Magazine Called Sunset Not what I expected it to be at all.

Don't want this quality Parveen reference to go unnoticed.

Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

Gotcha. I figured it was, because he's been all over Damon's post-Blur stuff, but I couldn't possibly tell from my seats.
-
Damon introduced Paul and Mick at the Patriot Center show. They were the only band members he introduced. I thought that was kinda weird, but I guess the rest of the band wouldn't have gotten much recognition. Unless that was Simon Tong also playing guitar.

For the 2/3 other Super Furry Animals fans on here, Gruff Rhys has a new solo song out. It's, naturally, fantastic. Seems like more news is coming tomorrow, so my fingers are crossed for an album soon. And a solo tour.
-
Nah. Patriot Center, Fairfax, VA. My friend was at the MSG show, and he said Lou Reed was alright, but clearly not interesting in being there.

I saw them last Monday, and it was incredible. Mos Def was there, so we got Sweepstakes (which I'm not too fond of) instead of Kids With Guns (which I love,) but that's my only complaint. Don't Get Lost->Demon Days ending was the best part, I think. I always forget how perfect those songs are too end Demon Days.

I saw the movie before I heard the full soundtrack, so I thought nothing of it. -

Great movie. I thought it had a really good balance of Dylan vs. cover versions. And the soundtrack is incredible on its own. -
Albums you shouldn't like, but you do
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
Yup. Really diggin' that one lately. It's nice to hear the Roots more free to let themselves go. They're one of, if not the most talented bands out there, and Wake Up has some great examples of that. I'd never listened to John Legend, but he delivers some killer vocal performances. The vocals on Compared To What are unreal. And I Can't Write Left Handed is 100% I'd love to hear more ______ & the Roots albums like that. Great as the arrangements of Roots songs usually are, it's nice to hear what else they can do. -

I would agree. But it's still my #1 album of 2010. If those first six songs were spread out a bit more, the second half wouldn't seem inferior at all. As is, they're great songs overshadowed by a run of phenomenal songs.
