My favorite song on the album, easily, but really? Interesting. -

I wouldn't call Street Legal genius, but it has some terrific material. Either it's one of his worst good albums, or one of his best mediocre albums, depending on when I listen to it. -

Gruff's playing solo shows in LA and NYC January 11th and 13th. Just those two for now. Maybe more after the album comes out. I bought my NYC ticket yesterday. Really excited for this one. I stupidly missed the DC show on the Candylion tour. Not gonna miss this chance. And here's another new song. Sounds great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Z7JRU_pKSQ -

Man, I would have loved to have seen a show on the Love Kraft tour. Not because I think Hey Venus or Dark Days/Light Years are less than great records (DD/LY ranks at or near the very top of my list, honestly) but because Love Kraft has so many terrific songs (Atomik Lust, Walk You Home, Frequency, Cabin Fever, etc) that I know I'll likely never hear live. -
Nope. Receipt said two weeks before the show, I think. So there's still time.

Damn, I still haven't seen Separado. I've been waiting on news of a US release of the DVD. Or a rip to surface online. I don't want to give up and buy the UK dvd if a US version is coming at some point. But I do need to see it. The trailer/plot is excellent, and I know Gruff can somehow tell that story without making it too ridiculous. I remember there was talk of a DVD/CD soundtrack deal, but I don't know what's come of that. Real LP3 kinda came out of nowhere, so maybe the Separado soundtrack will just be in the movie. -

Agreed. I still like bands like Blur and Pulp, but they're so specifically of that time that it's hard to listen to the albums without thinking of the less than great music that whole "genre" spawned. But Super Furry Animals pretty much existed on their own planet, outside of that whole deal. Even still. I know some people are put-off by the band's obvious sense of humor, but I get the impression that even with all the weird things they've done, they're making some of the realest music out there. And Gruff is a rare example of a creative genius who seems to have nothing but admirers, with o -

Fuzzy Logic was the first album I heard of theirs. It was a few years ago (2006 or so) and I was a massive Flaming Lips fan. Their drummer was wearing an SFA shirt when I saw them, and I recognized the name when I saw Fuzzy Logic at a used book store. Bought it. Great album. Literally starts off mid-riff. Then came Guerilla, RATW, and the rest in whatever order I found them. They quickly became my new favorite band, and now they're just another level entirely. Look at some of the other bands of that "scene," then look at SFA. You've got break-ups (Blur, Pulp, Oasis, the Verve), well publi -

My copy of the Lady Killer won't be here 'till Tuesday or so, so I'm coming back to this for the first time in a while: Crazy is still one of the finest pop singles I've ever heard. -

I rank Phantom pretty high, and most would agree. Problem is, there's no consensus on SFA albums. Ask any hardcore fan, and you'll get a different list. And I don't just mean there are 2/3 possible #1s. Literally any of their 9 albums could be someone's favorite. I like Phantom Power (probably #3/4 for me) because it's a great acoustic-ish pop album that has flashes of everything SFA's good at. And you just cannot beat songs like Bleed Forever, Sex, War & Robots and Slow Life, among others. The most common starter albums are Radiator and Guerilla. I'd say check out Radiator. That's the c -

I'd say the same about Tarantula, but in a far less enjoyable manner. Chronicles was Dylan lyrics that were easy to follow, and fascinating because of it. Tarantula is not easy to follow. It's basically an entire book of the poem in the liner notes of Bringing It All Back Home. But less good. I don't want to hate on it, though. It's fascinating, and well worth it for the snippets of lyrics you'll be able to find contained in the poems. -

I'd put my money on this. It's worth finding/reading for the Dylan obsessed. Some of it's really great, some's awfully hilarious. My used copy was $5 or something. I'm glad to have it. -

In the immediate post-release days, I definitely thought both were better than they actually are. I wouldn't call either a classic, but I'm more likely to listen to all of TTL than all of MT these days, so I'd give it the nod. It's a good minor Dylan album. Nothing really floors me, but it's a nice sound, and it doesn't really overstay its welcome. Of all recent Dylan recordings (not necessarily releases,) Tell Tale Signs is by far my favorite. Ridiculously good bunch of songs.
