He's done this for these dates. The press release clearly states he's playing Le Noise songs and some older songs done solo electric and acoustic.

I just bought my ticket. $58. Granted, I went to the box office and skipped Ticketmaster fees, but still. I really don't think it's that much. Music legends in small theaters are never gonna be cheap, and expecting that is a bit ridiculous. If NY goes on a tour like this and prices tickets at $30, scalping becomes even worse and people will complain about that. At least this way you're more likely to get real fans in the seats. I've only paid more than $50 for two non-festival concerts before this: Gorillaz and Them Crooked Vultures. But both were more than worth what I paid.

I want to buy my ticket at the box office tomorrow and save some money on service charges, but it might not be open when tickets go on sale at 10. You think the Landmark show will be a quick sellout?

Meat Puppets - Lollipop (2011)

I'm admittedly only a "fan" of them through Nirvana Unplugged. But I checked out and liked all the original versions too. Definitely a band I'll really get around to eventually. -

That cover sucks. Drop shadows on text is literally the worst thing ever. -
Truly horrible lyrics that somehow work...

The only thing keeping me from calling Spoon's Written In Reverse the best track on Transference is the total dud in the opening couplet. I'm writing this to you in reverse" is excellent, but "someone better call a hearse" is a total flop and really bothers me. Song rules though, so I guess it works anyway. -

Post thoughts on those Dutronc albums when you get them. I youtubed him and played a few tracks and really liked them. -

I've never looked into translations. I like being completely unaware of what the songs are about. My dips into foreign language are limited to this French stuff, some Brazilian music, and Gruff Rhys' Welsh songs, but I like the idea of words sometimes being pure sound with no meaning. -

Here's another. It plays in the last scene of the Darjeeling Limited. Fantastic song. I've been trying to find some of his albums, but no luck. Love this song though. -

Synthesizer: I bought an album by Claude Francois a while back. All really good, but this song especially. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsNyPFTY2J8 I haven't found anymore of his stuff, but this CD (it's called Comme D'Habitude, and the title track is the original French version of My Way) I have is fantastic. -

Yeah, Brel is another one I listened to a bunch. Hardy too. I used last.fm radio to find some good ones. The "Serge Gainsbourg similar artists" station was a godsend. -

Nice! Those are two albums I've bought for the hell of it at thrift stores for $1 and ended up loving. I went through a French pop obsession s few years ago, and Polnereff was a favorite. -
Radiohead - The King of Limbs
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to solace's topic in Someone Else's Song
Give me a short album that makes me want more over an album loaded with filler any day. You mention Pinkerton, which is obviously a great album, but how about Pink Moon? Not even 30 minutes. Yet it's one of the greatest albums ever recorded. -
Wilco heard while you're out and about
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to isadorah's topic in Just A Fan
That show is disgustingly addictive. My sister (14) is a huge fan, and I watched a few minutes of an episode over winter break. Next thing I know, it's four episodes later. I felt gross. Cool Wilco mention though. -
I'm no TKOL hater, but Go Go Boots is significantly better. Mercy Buckets is a great song, probably the best, but I don't see how it can be the only good one you find.

Radiohead - The King of Limbs

The Bends In Rainbows OK Computer Kid A Hail To The Thief (would be top three if it was 3/4 tracks shorter) The King of Limbs/Amnesiac (I never really got that familiar with Amnesiac. And TKOL is too new to rank. So it's a tie for second to last) Pablo Honey -
Radiohead - The King of Limbs

This length argument is ridiculous. It's not like Radiohead just dropped the first 37 minute album in music history. For me personally, an ideal album is 36-44 minutes. Number of tracks doesn't matter, but if it's in that range, the chances of me liking it are way higher. The most frustrating thing for me as a music fan is bands that feel they need to cram each album full of songs. So kudos to Radiohead for releasing only as much as they felt was worth releasing. -

It's obviously not even gonna be a review. One need only refer to the masterpiece that is their review for My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy to know that a new Radiohead album will not get a normal "talk about the music and why it's good and/or bad" review. I'm expecting big things. -
Radiohead - The King of Limbs
Shakespeare In The Alley replied to solace's topic in Someone Else's Song
It's growing. There are now three songs I really like, and the rest I still enjoy, I just don't remember them. It's obviously not a one listen record, so all these instant write-offs make me roll my eyes a bit. This is definitely gonna be bottom three or four Radiohead for me, but I respect the hell out of what they did this time around. -
That's just ridiculous. I'm not that fond of it yet, but it's clearly more than just a bunch of Thom Yorke solo recordings. I haven't given it a close headphones listen yet, but I can already hear lots of quality bass and drums and hints of guitar. Not that that means it's a great album, or that you have to love it, but it's more than just Thom Yorke and no one else.

Hotel Shampoo, easily. Don't see that changing, even with just about everyone I like releasing something this year. King of Limbs hasn't done much for me yet. Pleasant listen, then I can't remember any of it immediately afterwards. But I'll readily admit Radiohead's electronic stuff isn't my favorite side of them. It's still early though. Three listens is not near enough to judge.

Love this album. Pretty solid #2 of the year so far. I'm a pretty new DBT fan (only heard Decoration Day, Go Go Boots, Fine Print and Blessing and a Curse) but I saw them in October and loved it. I like Cooley and Patterson a lot more than Isbell anyway, so his not being around anymore isn't a big issue for me. GGB is a bit too long, but I don't really know what I'd cut. Lots of terrific songs that have been stuck in my head for a while now. Great album. Probably gonna end up viewing this the same way I view Evil Urges. Admittedly not their best, but it's the first new release since I got in

Was gonna see QOTSA and Sparklehorse (separate shows, obviously) a few years back. But I was only moderately into both at the time, so I didn't go. Then they both faded from the live scene, and became two of my favorite bands around the same time. Now Queens are gearing up for a tour, so I'll catch them within the next few months. Sparklehorse, not so much.
