  1. Yeah. Wow. If I'm honest, none of the early information was surprising to me at all. He, like SO MANY men of his age, had a break and let his dick do the talking. Then maybe fell in love with the new pussy (pardon the parlance) cuz she was younger, and she made him feel younger and powerful, and was also there to help him grieve his, at the time, nearly terminally ill wife. And then desperate to win, he totally exploited his situation by using his wife as a campaign tool. And then did what he had to do out of desperation to cover it all up for personal preservation, when it was about to
  2. My 4 year old boy loves the Beastie Boys...God Bless Him...he tries to do "So Whatcha Want". Classic. He also likes Wilco because he knows I do. I'm not a fan at all of Phoenix (sorry) but his favorite song (he calls it "his" song) is 1901. He puts it in his Fischer-Price MP3 player and walks around the house bobbing his head. And this one came out of left field, but he saw Sting on the TODAY show with his latest, Celtic ensemble playing a song called "Soul Cake" off of his newest CD of winter songs. Man, he just stopped and stared at the TV for the entire song. He doesn't stop for much.
  3. This is always is motion for me, but for now... BT AGIB YHF SBS W(TA) AM ST
  4. I was looking for an amp online today and saw one of the reissues at this place in Lincoln Square, Chicago: www.rocknrollvintage.com under "other new guitars" for $995.00. Not too far from where your profile places you. Good Luck!
  5. I'm not sure how long it was after Jay took over for Johnny that the tides turned for Jay. It took awhile. Pretty sure it was longer than 7 months. Many of you may remember that Jay was getting creamed by Letterman in the ratings for a long time. The network was getting ansy. Then the day after Hugh Grant was caught with that hooker he came on The Tonight Show because he was previously booked. That shot Jay up to #1 and he never looked back. Not saying that Conan needs to be the first to book TIger or anything, but that these things take time. The almighty Jay Leno was once not so,
  6. This, my friend, is one of the joys of being married with seperate bank accounts. As I think on it, my pragmatic side is winning over my "need to be different" side, even though they are all great guitars. And for a first guitar, it is a solid choice. (the Tele, I mean) I just don't know. I'm going fishing this weekend in the Keys to get the heck out of the cold. I'm going to be meditating on it while soaking up some sun!!!!!!! Edit: I think what I like the most about the Tele is that guitar looks like THE Guitar of my memory. That butterscotch color, with the crooked pic
  7. I know what I'm going to request at the next solo show. I Believe!
  8. I was wondering why he would just give me that amp! It is the Roland Cube, and what you mentioned is exactly what I would use it for. When the kids are sleeping I can put the headphones on. As for the Creston... I think if this were not my first electric it would have been the winner. I think patience and the "play before you buy" mantra won out. Who knows! I may get the bug down the line and grab one of them too. Although I kind of have it mapped out that I can only buy one guitar per annum or my wife will kill me
  9. Let me throw this out there... I have narrowed my search down to three: 1. Rickenbacker 360 2. Gretsch Brian Setzer signature 3. ...wait for it... the '52 Telecaster reissue I have been given a small solid state practice amp. "The Cube"?? I can't remember it is upstairs. Anyway, when I buy the guitar, I'll just take the plunge for a tube amp too, probably. What recommendation would you give for amps for these three guitars? (within reason) I'm sure as far as what I play jives closely with what most of you do. I will not be jazzing or metaling it up all that often.
  10. grab her some ear plugs from the drug store. she'll be OK.
  11. Yeah, not a fan of the knobs at all. You serious about the chicken heads? Do share. That sounds great.
  12. Hey! What about me??? No, really, just kidding. This thing is on cruise. In my search I am also leaning toward the American Tele line or reissue with the maple fretboard (that is a must for any fender for me)... coincidence? Anyway, I was at my local GC, and they are flush out of American Teles of any kind. Not one. Must be due to the reordering period that was mentioned. So I didn't get to try them; However, and I am a little ashamed to admit this, but they have had this Gretsch... cough... Brian Setzer model with the TV Jones pickups in there for probably 3 years, and they have
  13. I have a giant, throbbing HBO boner right now!!!!! I love "The Wire" (truly the greatest show ever made... and I love my TV) and I had no idea this was even in the works. I can tell you that this stands to be nothing less than a series that will land somewhere between awesome and totally awesome.
  14. As far as the amps go, tube amps do not have headphone jacks, right? I need a headphone jack, due to the rugrat sitcheeayjun. So I may be eventually buying both types. Any brand or model direction there on the solid states?
  15. This ain't so bad... http://www.crestonguitars.com/guitars/detail.php?id=147 or this... http://www.downhomeguitars.com/001.JPG
  16. Thank you for the information so far. Keep it coming. This is quite helpful. I have checked in a couple of times today and checked on some of the recommendations. This is such a new learning experience for me. Does anybody have any thoughts on the Rickenbacher 360? I know the looks are not for everybody, but I love it. Just wondering about the sound. With all due respect, I'd rather not be stuck in the sixties sounding like George Harrison (at least not all the time). And thank you for bringing Creston to my attention. That is just my style as well. If I can be patient enough
  17. I have more acoustic guitars than I need, and now Im looking to get plugged in. My best friend from HS and his son are taking drum lessons and jamming with my Martin isn't cutting it. Let's say you have $2K to spend on an electric guitar. What would you choose and why? This group I have always found to be very knowledgeable about equipment, and I would like to know what your opinions are. Thanks.
  18. Of bands that I actually generally like... I'll go with "Highly Suspicious" from MMJ. Although, over time it has almost reached the point of SOO bad that it has become good again in some way. Like there is no logical way that they could have made that song thinking that it was actually awesome, so therefore; it is awesome, kind of thing. I mean... peanut butter pudding surprise sounds pretty delicious to me... Still pretty sucky though.
  19. Black Sheep and one of my favz... 3rd Bass!
  20. This just in: OH MY GOD the Blackhawks are good.
