  1. Manny is one hell of a hitter, I give him that. But dude's kinda lumpy. If Proposition Joe from the Wire took a few spinning classes, he'd look a lot like Manny. He doesn't look like he backs off from much, and I'm not talking about the inside half of the plate... oh,... pun!
  2. I'm holding out hope for another Chicago residency set, which Jeff said they would do this year too, in that tour gap from late June to mid-August.
  3. I've been a fan for a long time, and I like Shootenanny too! "Fashion Awards" makes me laugh out loud every time. You may know this, but that album was just thrown together to try to cure a case of writers/producers block while he was working on "Blinking Lights". I think the previous poster is right, there's nothing ground-breaking or unique on it, really. But for as heavy as E's catalog is, a good rocker to break things up is all right with me... I like all of his albums, and cannot wait for the new one. Eels and Wilco in the same month! YEEEHEWWW!
  4. Looking to dive in and spend some time with one of these fantastic artists. I have very little knowledge of any of their works and I am looking for a new artist to sit with for awhile. If you could pick only one, which would you pick and what album would you start with?
  5. 'scuuuuuze me... while I kiss this guy...
  6. It is "something" that the M's are able to field winners as often as they do considering their finances. They will be a contender, imho, all year. Although, I still hold grudge from '03. Goddammit, that shouldv'e been our year... really.
  7. My dad used to make fun of my mom, before he killed her, because she used to sing "there's a bathroom on the right" for "there's a bad moon on the rise"... Edit: blue sarcasm doesn't translate well in text.
  8. Boy, the only thing I got for you is I saw them play that last year at the Chicago residency twice. It was night 2 (2-16-08) and night 5 (2-20-08). I do not have a link, but Analogman has them up on the "In a Future Age" forum somewhere. I'm sure you know, but that is Jon singing that song. When I saw Jon sinigng that LIVE I was bowled over. Then I saw it again..
  9. DUDE... Soriano is on pace for 81 lead-off home runs! This is the Cubs year boys. 3, yes THREE runs WALKED in by the Brewers in the 4th, Cubs up 4-1. f-u 101 yrs. Edit: make that 4 runs walked in 5-1 Cubs
  10. I love Jon Miller's voice, Joe Morgan is a pompous ass (IMHO), and I feel like I want to like Steve Phillips, but he is a giant gas bag too. SNB announcers kinda blow.
  11. Agreed. Save your $ and grab a Martin. Even a well-taken-care-of used Martin will be more than fine. I'm a fan of my HD-28...
  12. I'm going with may-on-naise... 3 syllables.
  13. Soriano clubbed the hell out of that ball! 2 run HR. Cubs lead 6-5 top 9. Lee batting .095... Edit: Cubs win! 6-5 Whew... good game.
  14. Just listen to the same station for an hour or so... you're bound to hear it again.
  15. Yeah, Plaza was alway hippie-ish. Cool. Your daughter has a radio show down there? Which station?? I think if I could keep the living I am making now and just transpose myself and my family down to Carbondale, I think I would do it. But that is the problem, no industry down there except the Hospitals and the University. There is so much outdoorsy shit to do down there, you know. Feeling energetic? Go mountain biking at Cedar Lake or rock climbing at Garden of the Gods (that'll never happen for me, but you can! I just bring my cooler and watch) or go jet-skiing on Cedar Lake. Fee
  16. Peanit instead of peanut... ala "penit butter" beloved instead of belov-ed. It is a pretentious sounding word anyway, but if you're going to use it, say it right, dammit. and when people misuse the phrase "calm and collected" and say "calm and collective". Edit: forgot... when people say statue instead of stature

Dude... fantastic! I'll try it on for size tonight, hopefully, if I can escape the Easter family invasion for a bit. Thanks again. I'll keep you posted.
  18. For sure. I'd guess the only thing saving them is that the cost of living down there is still stuck in the 1970's. If you make 50K a year down there you're a member of the country club. Never been to P-Mac. That wasn't there when I was there. Was it relatively any good?
  19. Oh good. They must have updated it. They weren't on there the other day, but I didn't check today. Did you go to Plaza Records in Carbondale? That place has been around for a while. I used the go there and spend all my financial aid money there when I was in school and then steal ramen from my roommates until the next check came... ahhh, those were the days.
  20. This is where I go in the far West Chicago 'burbs. Great store, nice folks, cool little town to walk around in after you buy your Wilco DVD. For some reason they are not on the website for the event, but they are participating with all sorts of events and such. Just got an email from them this morning.
  21. I had done so, but I just logged on and it is working! Thanks for your help! And yes, it is Twin Peaks... best TV of all time. Thanks, again.
  22. Those are really nice headphones... I've got the Bose padded on-the-ear headphones, and I wear them to the gym everyday and sweat like I am getting paid for it... I am continuously amazed at how they have held up after 2 years. They still sound great, and I really beat the hell out of them. But yeah, to me it sounds like for as much use your dock will be getting, get something that you will enjoy and will last. Why pay $200 for a mediocre machine that may not last, when for an extra $100 you can have a Bose.
  23. I've got the Bose Sound Dock. I don't know how "reasonable" it is, but it sounds amazing and it will last a lifetime, so to me it beats buying one every couple of years. I think it is around $300. Anything Bose is awesome.
