A couple of people sent in their lists, but they somehow didn't make it through to the e-mail inbox. If you sent if your vote, but haven't received a response from me, I didn't get it! Please send it again, and if you don't hear back from me by tomorrow morning, send me a PM. Thanks! -
Yeah, I know. That doesn't totally match the rest of his likes/dislikes.

Perfect! Thank you. That whole site looks like a great place to browse, I'll definitely set him up there. Yep, I think he'd go for that one, too. His problem with NPR (and mine too, to some extent), is that if you're not crazy about the host, you don't enjoy the show as much. So I've tried him on a few of those, but he wants more content, less personality. Thanks very much for all the suggestions, though!

We got my dad an iPod for fathers day, we thought he'd enjoy it for audiobooks, and he does. He's also got a small amount of a music on there, mostly folk-y, Irish traditional, that kind of thing. But what he really loves are podcasts. I set him up with something called Escapepod (short science fiction), which was recommended to me by a friend, Philosophy Bites, which we found just by searching for "philosophy" in the iTunes store, and a couple of comedy things (the Onion News, and a few others that he's just meh-to-OK on, nothing he's wowed by yet). So: he'd like more of these, please!

Jim, I would be thrilled and delighted to get to upload this show! I'll be in touch... Thanks!

Rule of thumb around here is to wait a week before looking for it. Sometimes they're available a lot quicker, sometimes it takes months. But just so as not to put pressure on the tapers, we like to give them a week or so to get home (if they've traveled to the show), maybe take a day or two off, and then leisurely work their magic. When the show is available, more than likely that info will show up in this thread. You can also check over in the Greatest Lost Track of All Time section, for trading and downloading info on this and lots of other shows. Welcome to VC!

I just want this to reflect the greatest number of VCers possible. It's not just you folks, I want everyone to vote. You just happened to have left yourself open to the criticism. -

Not to name names or anything , but I'm just going to start calling out those of you who said you were in, but haven't voted yet. Currently, the electoral turn-out looks like the sum total of voters in a Republican primary in San Francisco (that would be low, in case that wasn't clear ). Anyway: vote!!! -
I once heard Noah what's-his-name, the one who used to (maybe still does?) play the cute doctor on ER, on a talk show, talking about his name. He likes it, because even though there aren't a ton of Noahs in the world, everyone knows how to spell it. That's kind of how I feel about Nancy. When I'm spelling my work e-mail address, people will say "so that's N, as in Nancy...", and I say "it's actually n-a-n-c-y, as in Nancy".

One of my sisters works with me. When she says it, I can hear the quotes.

The first time I met my cousin Tom in England, he told me that he'd wanted to name his daughter Maudie, but his partner kept insisting that it's an old-lady name. He argued that it's a family name, she'd be named after his cousin in America. They ended up naming her Nancy, and until the minute he told me that story, he'd never had any idea that Nancy is my real name. It was just a neat coincidence.
-
Jennifer Khephan Krysteen. But at work, they call me "Nancy".
-
I suspect that this is the main issue, this is the incentive to feed us fluff:
-
I am also a "no one calls me the name on my birth certificate" person. Well, except at work, but they don't count.
-
I'm 100% not crazy about the "official" version of scrabble on facebook.
-
And here I was, picturing a world full of people named things like "Always Mr. Cheerful", "Smartest Girl in School", "Bakes Great Cupcakes"...
-
I should probably just go ahead and add Keyshawn and Bunny as their own options.
-
Then where are all the Kevin votes, damn it?!? The Kevins are holding back. Would it help if I changed the option to "Kevin (or something close to it, like maybe "Khephan")"?
-
Christopher's only kind of a saint, anyway. He's been subtly downgraded.
-
I'll accept both of those. A friend of mine wanted to name his baby "Thistle". His wife vetoed it, but we still call her Thistle sometimes.

I've been moderated!
