  1. I'm going to let that one go (myboyblue's), since it's actually far more substantial than most of what's gone on in here in the last hour. I'm not old enough to remember this, but apparently in the 60s it was kind of a big deal for some older people that young people wore the American flag as clothing (on jackets, as shirts, whatever). It was considered disrespectful. Now, everything is covered with flags, you see flags on paper napkins that people are wiping their greasy mouths with and then throwing in the trash, etc. How did this change so completely? If the flag is sacred to some peo
  2. I'm this close to closing down the whole damn thing! Where's Beltman when we need him? Does he have some kind of bat-signal thing where we could let him know we need him to come in and say something smart?
  3. I'm well aware of that. I'd rather not delete anything outright, but this way people looking for actual substantial political discussion don't have to wade through the crap. Don't worry, I'm sure someone will push me to full-on deletion soon enough.
  4. Doesn't matter who started it, this should have ended it. Future non-substantive, personal-attack style posts will be edited out. You've been warned.
  5. I am seriously scared of that dog. And, here's someone who's done you one better, junebug: Wilco!
  6. Those pictures are just all kinds of Yay!
  7. I like the song, and I like it better live than I do on the album, I think John's vocals are much better now than they were then. I also like what it seems to represent when it's played live, which is something that Tweedy's talked about in interviews about playing with this group of people. They are not a backing band for him, they're a group of people that enjoy making music together, and it's not all about him. It may not be Wilco's best song, but it is a Wilco song, and John's been a part of Wilco as long as anyone else, he deserves to get his shot in the spotlight every once in a whil
  8. Even my mom laughed when he said the shirt was "slimming".
  9. OK, this conversation is over. Back to talk about the Wilco appearance, or this thread is toast.
  10. This bit is beyond lame. Cut it out.
  11. I think it's a web-only ad, not on TV. Here it is on John McCain's official youtube page:
  12. You also might want to check out Disc 2 of Someone Else's Songs: http://www.owlandbear.com/wilco-archive/
  13. Looks like some of you have found this already, but for anyone who hasn't noticed it up there yet: http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=517341 Jim sent me a very cool looking CD with graphics and everything on it. If anyone who can't do BT wants a copy, let me know. I'll send the nice disc out to the first person who calls dibs in this thread (preferably someone who was at the show, for souvenir purposes). (Note: the files on Jim's CD are in flac format, so if you can't deal with that, don't bother asking!)
  14. For anyone who is in the neighborhood and considering going to one of these shows: At the Tweedy-in-your-living-room show I attended this year, Mart (who always plays for us after Tweedy is done) did a quick guest appearance in the middle of Jeff's set. Someone said to Jeff, "now you know what happens after you leave...", and he replied "yeah, it gets good". He said that he should be opening for Mart, and was told that he was, for that show at least.
  15. Mart, you know I wish I could be there! Kiss Craig for me, hopefully I'll be out to see you guys soon! Safe travels!
  16. Nice, thanks! I was really hoping that Nels' suit would be a Nudie with ankle-length pants.
  17. I would like more pictures, please!!!!!!
  18. Thanks, folks! A few hours left, for anyone who still wants to play.
  19. He is a local boy! ( Did I dream that Iron & Wine is gong to be at this?
  20. Pretty ballsy, for a guy who's still outnumbered by the Chrissess!
