i just looked at the bands and overlaps at the 2008 ATP that Low played and i am at peace with my decision to skip them and see the Polvo set instead.

a couple spring to mind: Sonic Youth - Sonic Nurse was 20+ years after their debut. Mogwai - As The Love Continues (24 years after the debut) This bends the rules a bit but Sleep released The Sciences 27 years after their first record and i think it might be their best.

Low are one of those bands that i really wished i'd paid more attention to when i could. they had a rare thing going on.

the cost of seeing an in-demand show
tinnitus photography replied to tinnitus photography's topic in Someone Else's Song
i think that certain bands might be forced into just regional touring, short runs. driving a van across the country to make $75 a night and split it 4-5 ways just ain't a way to live. -
this is a good piece: https://jukeboxgraduate.letterdrop.com/c/always-go-to-the-show-is-now-meaningless

this will be my 4th time i think... always an entertaining show, though they pull a strange crowd.

finally got a chance to delve into the box... wow this is a pretty eye-opening release. hearing the evolution of the songs is really cool, and i gotta say the recording quality and pressing quality is superb. not sure if the silver sounds as good but i am not second guessing my decision to go w/ the black vinyl pressing.

that's pretty wild, i never knew that.

Fontaines DC makeup show tonight.

no, unfortunately Solid Sound got moved to the same weekend as Boston Calling, and SS's lineup was far more to my tastes. I had a friend who caught a couple of the NIN shows and said they were phenomenal. i have actually never seen NIN. I shot them on the tour w/ Soundgarden but didn't get a review ticket, just a photo pass. I did see How To Destroy Angels once.

they occupy a strange place for me in terms of bands i love and seeing them. i was onto them pretty early; got a copy of Slay Tracks from a second hand dealer after grabbing the 10" and other early singles and saw them in 91 at the Middle East upstairs. always bought whatever record they were releasing and loved their material. then i didn't see them again until that 2010 reunion; not sure why i never saw them when they were in their prime. this tour is WAY better than the first reunion. through the power and the beauty of the internet, someone actually recorded the show i went

Pavement, if they were a simile to an apex predator re: bands, would be a ravenous great shark who can sprint on land. no band can touch them right now.
-
gotta say that i never really checked them out aside from their work w/ Neko Case. there was an excellent podcast on Kreative Kontrol w/ the remaining members. never saw Dallas play but goddamn his brother shreds like a mofo.

What New Band have You Fallen Under the Spell of?
tinnitus photography replied to kidsmoke's topic in Someone Else's Song
"I Don't Belong" is the best song they have written to date. got to see them twice in Dublin and finally will see them in Boston in a couple of weeks time. -

And I listened to that record last night w/ Otis. sounded great!

great point. w/ that Summer Bummer discount i had the Summerteeth box in my cart but i doubt i will pull the trigger. i can listen to my 2009 reissue and be fine w/ it and stream the extras and live stuff as needed.

ok, which of the band members tossed in Chat Pile? whoever it is gets my respect.
