  1. awww, just when it was starting to get interesting.
  2. Pot Kettle Black. Great song, either smoked or stirred.
  3. i've had my eye on this company for a while because all their guitars look so delicious, the prices are reasonable and i've heard nothing but good thingd as far the company's customer service is concerned. Most reviews give the products pretty high marks too. That said, I've never had the good fortune to play one personally. I did tip off some friends in the guitar biz who went the frankfurt gear show (whatever it's called) having very good things to say about them. One other thing springs to mind: i seem to remember reading something (thought I could be mistaken here) that there is a d
  4. This is actually their plan, All their records to date are really just singles with lots of B-sides. And as we all know B-sides are the true gems (think the Beatles' "Rain")in anyone's catalog, this is o.k. by me. By the way, OP, i wouldn't want to be left without "Country Disappeared." I'm confused by the lack of love for this one. I'm comforted only by comparing it to black olives: some people can't stand them which is great because that means more for me.
  5. Yes but which one would you buy first? and if you're tempted to get smart and say you buy them all in one fell swoop, then i would ask which one would you put in your e-cart first?
  6. I would die of smoke inhalation while trying to decide.
  7. Good questions. Can't help you but would like to ask another one. What tuning(s) does he use on the laps?
  8. What about Nels Cline? Would he have been kicked out of Mozart if too many people stood on his side?
  9. Nels Cline may not be in Wilco until the end of time but he will be there long after this thread has died and gone to hell.
  10. Riviera was a great band and sadly never saw the credit they should have been given. "At the End of the American Century" is a great record which should be heard. So is "Capital" Let the secret be put out. Congrats Derek!
  11. Exactly. The prospects of Wilco and Beck, who are both artists who have never been afraid to forge ahead into new territory while at the same time acknowledging the precedents who have taken them there, in and of itself is an exciting thing. Having never heard the record in question here, i don't think i will make an attempt to hear it before listening to their take on it as it is their collaboration which to me is the exciting thing.
  12. Well, well this should be very iteresting. Note to self: check out original.
  13. yeah, and i looked for this several times after i had responded to it, but it had been deleted.
  14. getting it now. thanks owl and bear.
  15. Only twice unfortunately. The first was on July 15 1995 at the Sunshine music festival in Crown Point, Indiana. It was a truly unfortunate choice of name for the festival as the clouds lurked threateningly overhead for all of the Wilco set. This was pre- BT but Jay had joined the band. The set list was A.M. and UT material. Completing the alt-country goodness of that offering was to be the following act, The Jayhawks. They were at their height, just after Tomorrow the Green Grass but before Mark Olson had left. Those menacing clouds weren't so cooperative, though, and opened up a few
  16. when was Jay's last show with Wilco?
  17. if it's great gear at bargain basement prices and you ship to poland, it's fine with me.
  18. Among currently active future contenders for this list i would include Bright Eyes and The Hold Steady.
  19. how do they define themselves? Do they use the word "band" in describing their music?
  20. Since there is not one Bob Dylan but many, and they sometimes inhabit the same song, can we call Dylan a band? I vote yes.
  21. I have canadian friends who don't like it when people from the U.S. use "American" to refer to themselves exclusive of Canadians, for precisely this reason. And they do have a point, I must say, even if it does leave us without a decent adjective.
  22. Olson-era Jayhawks Pavement Son Volt Luna The Feelies The Carter Family I know many will take issue with some of these choices, but hey, "best" is subjective so I might as well put forth the ones that mean something to this subject.
