  1. Thanks for not slaying me in this thread. I was impassioned and a little tipsy, actually forgot I posted this until I came back here this morning. I've been in, uh, other communities that would have just killed me for something like this. Screw them. I love the Wilco community. IATTBYH, Kamera, Radio Cure.... makes me weak in the knees. And, oddly, makes me crave a cigarette more often than not. Don't know how that became one of my triggers...
  2. Unbelievable! What an accomplishment! I'm listening to this for the umpteenth time tonight and I'm as blown away as I've ever been. Do we realize how amazing this album is? Why, yes, yes we do. I know, but, dammit, it can never be said too much for an album like this. If you haven't listened in a while, do it. You'll be blown away again and again. I know you know that, but sometimes we forget, so here' your reminder. (I did a search. YHF came up a million times. Big surprise. I'm sorry to start a useless thread, but... I just had to!) His fangs have been pulled and I really wanna see y
  3. sounds like the Bosstones screwing the Talking Heads. I wonder if that's what it sounds like in a Hollister store. I wouldn't know, but I assume so.
  4. haha. I read their D was not good this season, and I haven't seen them play yet, but I couldn't believe it! They've always been so GD tough. The reasons you enumerate could explain it. I guess we'll see.
  5. Indeed. I did, too; begrudgingly. I saw that alot as a Twins fan. Hated it then. It's allright now. I tried really hard to boycott the playoffs after the first round because my small-market feelings were hurt. I do hate the economics of baseball (an opinion that sends many people into a whirlwind of hate, for some odd reason. For that reason, I'd rather not debate it), but good baseball is good baseball and these first two WS games have been very, very good. Every time I think I'm out...
  6. Smells combative in here .... (*slips out of thread)
  7. That was funny. (though I disagree with the sentiment) edit: didn't see you were getting badgered for this; I didn't mean to pile on! I enjoyed your post.
  8. While not a good QB technically, I hope Young can make it harder for defenses because of his running ability. Limit him to dump off passees to uber-dangerous Chris Johnson and dink-and-dunk crap and cut him loose to run and he could be effective. I think thats the recipe for his success, however unlikely it may be.
  9. Am I the last person on earth not counting the Titans out? I don't necessarily mean out of the playoffs, it'd be a shock if they made it that far, but I can still see 6-8 wins. They've had a murderers-row schedule so far (Pitt, Hou, NYJ, Jax, Indy, NE) and it gets a bit easier in the second half of the season (though still kinda tough: AZ, Indy, SD, SF, Mia...). Vince Young is the ultimate wild card. After last year nobody expects a GD thing from him, and he just might sneak up on us.
  10. I'm new to live Wilco (2 shows). From what I've heard, I'd say ALTWYS.
  11. I don't know, I feel like they have numerous receviers who can step up. I think Walter could carry the team for a while. I don't know the status of their roster though, as pertains to injuries, etc.
  12. He also dropped a few "fag" bombs on people criticizing what he wrote. I think that was kinda the biggest one, outside the team-related stuff. Larry Johnson, Ladies and Gentlemen!
  13. Above conversation got me thinking about how I'd rank the top teams in each conference. For fun: NFC New Orleans NYG Minnesota ------------ Philadelphia Atlanta Arizona ------------ GB-Dall-Chi-SF all with an outside shot at the playoffs, in that order AFC Indianapolis Pittsburgh New England Baltimore Denver ------------ Cincinnati San Diego Houston NYJ explanation: I based my rankings on who I think will have the best chance to win in the playoffs. Obviously, Denver could be alot higher at this point but, come playoff time, I think I'd expect the teams listed before them to beat them. A
  14. Cool. I haven't listened to In Rainbows in forever! I'll have to rememdy that Welcome to Via Chicago!
  15. Review published yesterday, not sure why the delay, but...: http://www.jambase.com/Articles/Story.aspx?storyID=20118
  16. I started Housekeeping, couldn't get into it. Maybe I should give another try. Just started The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera. Starts STRONG!
  17. Hey, how would one go about changing their username? Mine kinda..sucks.
  18. mpolak21, did you make it to the game last weekend? Nobody was turned away at the entrance but I understand traffic was horrendous getting in and many abandoned the effort. Second largest crowd in SJU football history, at 12,903, saw St. John's escape with an overtime victory, 20-17. It really was an escape, too, as SJU led 14-0 in the 4th before two botched punts allowed St. Thomas to tie the game in the final seconds, forcing the first home overtime game in Clemens Stadium history (note: SJU started playing at this "site" in 1908 but the stadium was only officially named "Clemens" in 1997
  19. You were the same dude mock-laughing in said thread that we even cared about the "topic" you started, now you're starting a new thread whining about it's closure. Why? Explain this to me? Browse long enough and you'll find that VC is generally more civil and mature than your average band message board. You should get into it, it's a pretty nice place to be.
  20. ha. I was close. Sad I watch that much tv. It's a... unique face.
  21. so its not Heron King Blves, as it's listed at the Cincy library. Good to know. I hate stuff like that. I'm pumped about this band from reading this. If I can wait, I'll try to pick those other albums up first. Thanks!
  22. Wow. I read this thread never having heard (of) Califone. I still haven't heard them but local public library has "Heron King Blves", picking it up tomorrow. Uh, can they possibly live up to the hype? I feel like I should jump right into this latest album, since it's apparently direct from the lips of God. "Heron..." any good? Good starting point?
  23. Speed Racer, is your profile pic from, like, a Dell commercial or something? Everytime I see it I get kind of confused, like I saw it long ago, elsewhere...
  24. There are so many bad teams this year; I can't remember this many bad teams in one season. Indy hasn't really been challenged yet, and it looks like they'll only be challenged 3-4 times all year. Keep this in mind come playoff time; what will we really know about these Colts? I'm a Viking fan and they're in a similar situation: nowhere near as dominant as Indy, but similarly easy schedule thus far and also unbeaten. Don't buy the Vikes just yet! I'm (trying) not (to).
  25. Last year, NYG v Miami was a mess. If I remember correctly the condition of the field was not conducive to an nfl football game. I believe there were bad weather conditions preceding and during that game, but the consensus was the field was the worst playing surface many of the players could remember playing on. I could be wrong here, just going on memory of a game I didn't watch (but read about), but I wonder if that comes into play. If so, could be another 5-2 game like last year (kidding, but wouldnt that be the worst score of any nfl game in history? that or 4-2. Wonder if those have ever
