  1. Haha, great shout! Still gets played quite regular in that order in my abode..
  2. Not expecting much this far from the event but thought it was worth a bump
  3. It was! Completely made up for missing Glastonbury, more than made up for it! Neil was amazing up until that point as well, as good as I've seen him... Other than that, Seasick Steve was brilliant, Mumford & Sons too, but Fleet Foxes were just OK. Note perfect, clinical, but just didn't really get me going bar one or two (Oliver James being one special moment)...p'raps I was just expecting too much.
  4. It's a minefield, I'm not eloquent enough to tackle it. Think ponch 1028 put it sympathetically and succinctly. Personally, it's just good to reminisce somewhat, and to have another look at this...
  5. Still try it at weddings and such like...a nice shiny floor, body filled with wine, beer & shots....Billie Jean comes on, you gotta give it a go!
  6. DickDarlington? I know that name...I used to visit your blog - Serenity Now, yeah? Got into some good stuff throught that, thanks!
  7. I never followed him all that closely and underappreciated him probably until Ian Brown took Billie Jean & Thriller and made them his own. That led to a little reminiscence and there's always the drunken conversations at late night parties - 'Earthsong, what the fvck?'....'Yeah, but Off The Wall is still a classic', etc. etc. I just remember being allowed to watch the Thriller video after my mum & dad had to discuss whether it would be too scary for me!
  8. Me too on the Band Of Horses front! Seems I'll have to do meself some digging... Anything like BoH?
  9. Heard them mentioned in the past somewhere but never investigated...this has peaked me interest again though, where should I start? Am I right in thinking it's former band of one of Band Of Horses or summink?
  10. Can't say I've heard it but I'll be looking it up now! I am completely obsessive and bias over Waits...even if Spacious Thoughts weirds me out, I'll listen until it doesn't. Anything he does is pure gold to these ears....that said, it sounds like you come from a similar angle so maybe I will be caught! His greatest moments change from day to day with me. Rather than recommend an album, I'd suggest sitting in front of youtube for a couple of hours and see if you can drag yourself away!
  11. So excited about all of this! I have a bootleg of them playing a while back, solo songs and collaborations - Jim (or Yim) sings the most beautiful Always On My Mind...
  12. Yeah, we like Silvertones but purely have them to stick on the walls for show...can't play it for shit, ersonally don't think they're all that other than a nice look - need a cab to get from the strings to the neck!
  13. Off to see him Saturday! How was he? As if it needs asking Really excited about Fleet Foxes too!
  14. Another reason to beg work for an upgrade on the PC....not that I think they'd see it is justification!
  15. Haha, great shout! Has to be said, Nils is one of the very best I've ever seen live, both with the E Street band, and solo. Was lucky enough to catch him many years ago on a solo acoustic jaunt and I still to this day wonder how he played the way he did, absolutely spellbinding! Was lucky enoughto meet him and ask how he did it at the time and he said to "just believe"...think there's a bit more to it than that!
  16. Aaarrgghh, this is so frustrating not being able to simply post an album cover, bloody computer! Anyway... Danny George Wilson - The Famous Mad Mile Georgeous stripped-back album, produced by Simon Alpin of Willard Grant Conspiracy.
  17. Nice review but strange take on Bull Black Nova..
  18. This looks like a thread I'd love to get involved in! I'll be looking for the same in a few week's time, lamrod, fancy exchanging reviews? I'll chuck you a PM..
  19. Coupla good shouts there though, good as Blacklight is, I still prefer Jenny Lewis' solo stuff, I'll give you Nashville though, can't believe I forgot it....maybe 1972 as well or is that pushing it?
  20. Or if there's noone can save it for you, melted vinyl do make for great ashtrays! Then order another...talk about indulgence That said, a 12" ashtray would be a bit big but I used to do it with knackered 7" records...trawl the charity shops for damaged classics, stick it in the oven and it melts into perfect shape!
  21. Can anyone help me out with an MP3 pls?! Just ordered 7" & Wilco Book...didn't even know about the book till I arrived here, thanks!
  22. Sounds great! Well, it should anyway....look forward to it!
  23. Aaarrgghh!! Why don't shows like that happen on these shores? I'm missing MVB and Wilco too..
