  1. Ooh, does this mean Liam Finn's supporting in UK too? *crosses fingers!* Specifically London Forum....any ideas anyone?
  2. Great thanks! PM me your address and I'll send you a promo once I can get me hands one..
  3. I've seen others do this here before so thought I'd give it a go meself one last time Anyone fancy themselves as a reviewer? Or just fancy airing their thoughts on our album? It's streaming & up for free download at http://www.billyvincent.co.uk/thesongbook.htm, and we did a limited run of hard copies. We've still got a few promos that I'd be happy to dish out to folk for your troubles as well. I hope you like it, but more pertinently just look forward to hearing your thoughts... Ta!
  4. Yeah, that holds true...probably truer than I initially had it down. Very Neil My reasoning came from the understanding that Geffen were trying to push him to make a 'proper rock n roll' album, hence the whole make up and artwork, and that was his retort.
  5. Cynical plug alert! Wanna lettuce know what you think of this? www.billyvincent.co.uk/thesongbook I'll even chcuk a hard copy in the post for your efforts if you PM your address
  6. Hear hear! Also, some mentioned before... Anything with Emmylou! Esp. 'Love Hurts'. Also 'Oh My Sweet Carolina' with Ryan Adams, and the one she did with Bright Eyes but name escapes me. Not sure these count as duets though? Either way, she adds great harmonies! The Tweedy / Feist one is growing but I still prefer her & Ben Gibbard's duet on Dark Was The Night.
  7. Neil Young - This Note's For You Almost an anti-writing songs song if that makes sense? Great lyric! Whole album was I believe...
  8. Likewise, I immediately thought 'Phoenix'...you could take anything of that album but Love Like a Sunset has something for everyone I think. Like my earlier reply to best albums, I'll have to consider more overnight / time.
  9. I'm useless at remembering what came out when but if Elvis Perkins was this year, then I second the shout for that. Wilco is up there too, as is Phoenix & Decemberists which have both had worthy shouts. Other than that, I'm gonna have to check some sleevenotes / refresh my memory to make a well informed judgement.
  10. This is gonna take some memory & trawling through! It was a decade of real transition for me musically so I gotta think hard..off top of me head... Charlatans had an honourable mention above - great shout! Being There & Summerteeth of course. mermaid Avenue too. Paul Weller had potentially the best spell of his career. Oasis have to get a mention for Definitely Maybe, Blur for Modern Life & Parklife. Pulp, Teenage Fanclub & Super Furries are all great shout! Must say I prefer Guerilla though... A lot of my choices are in fact covered above. I'll get home and trawl
  11. Any Brits here watch Hollyoaks? (Really bad teen soap for those who don't know it) Oh, the joys of fatherhood have introduced me to some 'great' TV! Well, they played two Wilco songs on there a week or two ago!! Everlasting Everything and Solitaire if I remember rightly... This was followed by Billy Bragg's version of Tracks Of My Tears opening Holby City!! Shocking TV, but great music!
  12. Thanks folks! It's sure been busy since, hence lack of action here...back at work for a break
  13. So, our first baby was born at 12.51am this morning!! Absolutely shattered and wholely blown away! Bizarrely, we've been enjoying A LOT of Bruce during the pregnancy and then he (the baby, Dylan) goes and arrives on The Boss' birthday! It's no longer a day belonging only to Bruce
  14. I can't say I've ever seen them...I think it's more likely the Daily Mail or Express. I'll keep me eyes peeled!
  15. The Independent is one of the more reputable yes. One of my preferred reads when I'm on a long journey but never have the time/dedication on a day to day basis. As far as conspiracy theories go, I always embrace them but never seem to reach a verdict. I'll always (well, almost) find a counter argument to many things...I reckon I could argue a conspiracy theory with meself in an isolated room!
  16. PS - If you wanna 'try before you buy (or download)', or just want summink to listen to at work, it's also streaming on site... http://www.billyvincent.co.uk/thesongbook
  17. Hi All, I know this has been done a few times round here so hoping you won't mind doing again... We (Billy Vincent) recently recorded an album for free release at our website and are keen for people's valued thoughts & opinions. If you have the time, please let me know what you think. At the very least, just grab yourself the album for nowt anyway http://www.billyvincent.co.uk/Stay%20On%20Course,%20No%20Remorse%20(Zip%20File).zip You got nothing to lose & I think (hope!) it would be to most people's liking on here... Cheers!
  18. Mansun....I got a coupla singles by them (Taxloss & Wide Open Space) and loved em but never delved further. They have just re-released Six...apparently a prog classic, hmm! Rose Hill Drive?? Where you from? I live in Sutton and Rose Hill is just down the road (actually spent a few years there!), they from round that way per chance? Now Grand Drive is a band that shoulda made it bigger! I loved this band and still do, reckon quite a few here would to...led by brothers Julian & Danny Wilson, who has since gone on to release a great solo album (under the name Danny George Wilson), and
  19. I've heard a couple of tracks on radio, couldn't tell you which ones, but both sounded great! I was never actually a massive PJ fan but still seem to have most of their albums and a live DVD. This one shall be keenly added to that collection.
  20. That's actually close to my initial assessment - I thought it had a bit of everything but wasn't sure of the flow. As time has passed (albeit a short period of time as far as albums go), it has worked more & more for me and I think this stands up with their best work, though it will never be my favourite.
  21. I like that thought! I too previously thought it was a moon..
  22. Haven't hit the archive in a while, this will take priority, thanks!
  23. Finally got internet installed at home and a laptop to go with, sweet! Also been cut a bit of slack at work at last too so you should be seeing more of me, just like when I first joined.. What have I missed? Anything? Nothing? I've since got the missus right into Wilco and she's spread the word to her sister as well, both will be joining me at the Forum. Little baby due any day too, so there's another new fan to add to the collection Look forward to resuming some conversations, starting new ones, and finally plugging me band's album which has been available for a few weeks now!
