  1. I couldn't agree more with this entire post. I think it's a great album and maybe too "fun" for the MMJ purists. I didn't catch on to MMJ till right before Evil Urges so I heard it as them evolving but to an older fan I could see where it might have been disappointing. With exception to "Highly Suspicious" I love or really, really like all the tracks.
  2. Would everyone agree John Wayne Gacy is the creepiest song ever written? Maybe a good poll topic. Hmmm?
  3. I don't know what to think about Lebron really. This looks harmless to me but the fiasco with the Cavs seemed way over the top. Do keep in mind this guy was pretty much a guaranteed millionaire from the age 15. Lurking agents, shoe deals, con men, no father, its alot to bear. I've always thought he handled himself amazingly until of late. With that much money and that many "options" since 18 I think he's stayed pretty grounded.
  4. Obviously I agree 100% on the live performance but I think the album is great. I'm not making a comparison but for some reason it reminds me of Deja Vu. I repeat not a comparison. The tempo and harmony I think are pretty amazing for a debut. I hate to mess with a good thing but does anybody else think they could possibly use a "Nels" type on lead to get their optimal sonic output?
  5. These guys love to play! Just played a free show in Cincinnat last night on Fountain Square and killed it. They did play two new songs and they sounded pretty good. These guys really believe in their music and I'm expecting a long and fruitful career.
  6. He was worth what he signed for, now a guy who has never taken a snap is worth more. So next contract Peyton should be looking for around $200 million. Maybe he should hold out when his contract is up.
  7. He played this at the 3/13/10 Vic solo show but that show hasn't made it to the digital world yet to the best of my knowledge. I'm pretty sure that was the debut. I was lucky enough to be first row balcony right next to John Wilkes Booth.
  8. Were you thinking more like $250 million?
  9. I've been defending athletes for years, especially young ones, for taking what they can get. There is nothing worse then some blow hard on T.V. slamming some kid from the ghetto for holding out for another 5 million. The problem with not having a cap is is say Bradford gets 55 million, Peyton is easily worth 200...where do you draw the line? I'm definitely not blaming the players. Mike Brown has owned my team for the last 20 years...trust me I'm not rooting for the guys in the luxury box.
  10. I really don't hate the free market. I'm an avid sports fan but really don't pay attention to the off the field stuff. All I know is when its late July and there is one first rounder in camp its a pretty depressing. Trust me I'm not a fan of ownership, I would just like to see these guys on the field sooner. This can't go on much longer anyway, Bradford is getting 8 million more than Stafford, if that rate continues first overallers would be making entire team salaries in about 7 or 8 years, I don't think the league can support that.
  11. I really can't think of one thing I would change...seriously. O.k. maybe the douche bag in front of me but that is out of the band's control. I don't think any true Wilco fan could be dissapointed by that setlist. The weather was awesome(I think I felt 6 raindrops). Yo La Tengo was fabulous. Two Dr.Dog songs in between acts, always a plus. Oh by the way we were standing on a freakin baseball field watching Wilco. Nine dollar beers...oh wait that acutally sucked but everything else was literally perfect. A couple footnotes from the roadtrip though. Do not visit The Kitchenette Restaurant at 3:0
  12. How much farther out of hand is the NFL going to let this first round draft shit get?
  13. I think I'll just leave my dignity home this weekend.
  14. Up until a couple years ago it was a federal offense for an indie band with more than one person singing at any given time on any album to omit Pet Sounds as an influence. A similar law also applied to music critics for album reviews of new indie releases. True story!
  15. Looks like I'll be sleepin at Potato Creek that night. Hope my fellow campers like Wilco.
  16. ...keys left front, phone/cash right front, ham sandwich back left. Unless of course I'm wearing my Bugle Boys while standing near a desert road in a white t-shirt with an 80's pompadour at dusk...but that is rare.
  17. Nice now I don't have to drive to New York... and a Friday. O'Shea's @ noon? Better make that 5:00.
  18. DAWES- When My Time Comes great cd, start through finish! Great debut for these guys, hope the follow up doesn't disappoint. F.Y.I. free show Aug. 6th Fountain Square, Cincinnati There were moments of dreams I was offered to save I live less like a workhorse, more like a slave I thought that one quick moment that was noble or brace Would be worth the most of my life. So I pointed my fingers, and shout a few quotes I knew As if something that's written should be taken as true But every path I have taken and conclusion I drew Would put truth back under the knife. And now the only piece o
  19. It's been in my cd player since I got it! Justin Vernon's "Bruised Orange" is great and so is "Spanish Pipedream" (Avett Bros), but Yim Yames "All The Best" stole the show in my opinion. Lambchop, Conner Oberst, Deertick it goes on. Highly suggest. If you like John Prine and don't like this cd you don't like John Prine.
  20. Great thread. No Big Head Todd mention yet or did I miss it. I had Sirius for a couple years and Lithium(the channel) was a great tool for memory jogging but it got a little repetitive for me. None the less it lead me to dig out all my scratched up 90's cd's from my teens. I was pretty close to throwin on a flannel and some Doc Martins right around 2007. Luckily my hair doesn't grow to fast any more or I may have been tempted to grow out the Dave Pirner again.
  21. I heard the entire Kickin TV album the other day while riding in my car, does that count?
  22. YHF all the way through at Border's(library). At the end of Reservations I'm looking at all the people thinking "does anyone know what the fuck is going on right now".
  23. I'm not insinuating the band is making money off kung fu's shipping, but they do control who their main merchandise vendor is. They are probably not aware of Kung Fu's shipping policies, I doubt anybody in the band does their Wilco poster shopping on line. As for the ticket you don't have a choice on your shipping options going through Frontgate. U.P.S. Ground is a mandatory $8.50 and the tickets are sent "two weeks before the show but maybe earlier" according to their site, couple that with a $5.50 service fee and your $45 ticket is now $59. Will call was not offered and driving up from Ky I
  24. The poster from a Cincinnati show I attended is now on sale for $7.00. Great, except they want $11.85 to ship it. Thats almost as ridiculous as the $15 I payed to have a single ticket for the South Bend show mailed to me a month before the show. I don't consider myself cheap but I'm not big on getting flat out fleeced neither. Such a fan friendly band it is a little suprising how jacked-up the ticketing is.
