  1. I sometimes feel Rhino does a great job on the artwork/booklet, but the sound of their re-issues suffers. Sundazed does a great job all the way around. I have several Legacy releases - but their tendency to put out the same stuff over and over again, with some slightly added stuff is tiresome. I suppose that is about all I know. Except for various other labels re-issuing cds. I don't really listen to anything but old rock music, so that is mostly what I know about. I have looked at the websites of some of those other labels. Like the folks at Sundazed, I'd say they do what they do
  2. That makes me think of Courtesy Move.
  3. R.E.M. Bassist: Touring Behind New Album 'Just Doesn't Feel Right'
  4. Exactly. I can respect that. I just sent a photo of the scarf to someone.
  5. I've seen those Crosley stereos - I would not buy one. I think there was some talk about those on here a few years ago. Of course, Sound Forge or something else would do a better job. But, whatever makes one happy is the thing to use. Black Sabbath at 78 speed is a reference to an old Cheech and Chong routine. I guess old Ozzy must need some more money for plastic surgery. I wonder how the powers that be came to pick him as the ambassador for record store day.
  6. Don't ever play Black Sabbath at 78 speed.
  7. I think it is due the grooves, as LB talked about. I know for the turntable we have at work a different needle was purchased to play 78s. I have seen the ones you talked about, where the mechanism flips around. I hope to have my turntable up and running sometime this year. I need to buy a new receiver.
  8. If I recall correctly, there is a special needle just for playing 78s. They must be putting that out as a novelty. I don't think I have ever owned a 78.
  9. He seems to be a busy guy since he retired from touring with Cheap Trick. Last year, he was part of the band Tinted Windows along with Taylor Hanson, James Iha and Adam Schlesinger.
  10. I think it is sort of neat to read about some of these releases, but I have no desire to buy any of this stuff. And I'd say your right, there does seem to be more major label (what's left of them) interest. I think this may be due to the fact that there is a sudden revival of all things vinyl. I wondered about also. I think expensive high end turntables have that option. At least the one we have at work has that option.
  11. Record Store Day (official website) By way of Capitol Records Beach Boys Page:
  12. I am checking this out now. I don't know about the event, but there is a podcast up where both guys are commenting on various live tracks from each band. The talk is before or after the song, so it does not ruin the flow of the song. Chalk Dust Torture>Bird Song
  13. I don't recall hearing anything about this until now: 'Killing Bono' Soundtrack To Feature Pre-U2 Song From Group That guy must have been mentioned in the U2 books I have read, but I can't place him at the moment.
  14. Thanks for posting again. And thank you Sparky. I should know better by now, but I am amazed by some of comments I have read in this thread. One of great things about people banding together is that no one stands alone.
  15. I almost lost a few due to trying to play The Rifleman with a BB gun once. I'd like to find an old bike like cryptique had. I think there have been some remakes in the past few years of banana seat bikes.
  16. I never experienced that sort of thing. We use to go around and acquire pieces of wood and bricks and make ramps out of them. I think we were trying to be Evel Knievel or maybe The Fonz. We didn't jump any sharks though, a few snakes, but no sharks.
  17. It's the law here that one has to wear a helmet. I don't recall ever seeing anyone wear such a thing back in those days. I think they would have been beaten up. I use to like build fires and jump over them on my bike. I did end up with some hot shoes a few times. I also think I went sideways into a pine tree about 5 feet or so in the air once. Froggie's story reminds me of the time my brother was jumping over some garbage cans on his bike. He already had a broken arm. He got some stitches on his head to go along with the cast.
  18. It may be time for the men to talk about their rad jumping over things on bikes stories now. I once saw a dude go off a 6 foot gravel pile. When he landed, certain parts of the bike and himself were not in such good shape.
  19. Exclusive: New 'Beavis and Butt-Head' Will Tackle 'Jersey Shore' and More
  20. I listened to the album by way of Youtube. I am not buying it. I know Thom may need money for dance school, but he ain't getting my money. I still think the first 6 songs of OK Computer are what I like best about Radiohead.
  21. Walmart FTW I'm riding it on the rail trail. I'm having my mid-life crisis. My brother had the OG Big Wheel. I never had one. I had a tricycle. Note: It was actually made out of metal, had real rubber tires, and was made in this country.
  22. Yea, you can't go to Walmart and get one of these: I think I had the following accessories at some point: left/right indicator lights, headlight, a walkie-talkie that looked like a CB radio (mounted on the handle bars), colored straws on the spokes, a white antenna-like pole with an orange flag on it, and a thing that went on the handle grip that made a motorcycle sound when you turned the handle.
  23. I remember those bikes. I think my brother may have had one of those.
  24. The Raleigh Chopper I always wanted one of those also.
  25. I always wanted one of those. I think between my brother and I we also had some sort of 10 Speed bike. I don't recall the brand though. It may have came from Sears. A lot of dudes just pounded the forks onto the existing forks. But my dad was a welder, so he did it right.
