Very sad news indeed. Brookes used to blog a bit on the band's website when The Charlatans were in the studio or on the road. The entries were amusing and he just seemed like a really good guy.

Yeah, New Adventures is one of their very best. There is just a weariness that pervades the whole thing....especially in songs like How the West Was Won, Undertow and Wake-Up Bomb. The guitar on E-Bow The Letter always hits me in the pit of my stomach. Even though there were a few more great moments after this album as a three piece; it would have been, in retrospect, been a great place to end.

I am really enjoying 3 Pears. Great guitar twang and jangle throughout and Dwight's voice seems to have gotten even better with age. Take Hold of My Hand, It's Never Alright, Missing Heart and Rock It All The Way are the standouts so far for me.

I agree. I don't like Cars Can't Escape as much as I do because it is unreleased, I like it because of how it resonates emotionally. The music and the lyrics convey the feelings of losing someone that one has long taken for granted to a devastatingly beautiful effect. I just think it really hits the mark.

That is my take on it as well. Only YHF and AGiB tops The Whole Love in my book.

Been listening to Wilco pretty heavily for the past few months. I have about 750 of my favorite songs on my iPod and 50 of them are from Wilco. I have also been listening to a lot of live shows.

The electric version of Muzzle of Bees. I know the acoustic arrangement is superior, but I liked Jeff's guitar on the early version.

Peter finally gets to unleash his voice on this album. I am sure it will be utilized sparingly. I really hope he forms/joins another fulltime band at some point. Same goes with Mike Mills. I just prefer bands to solo artists.

One Hundred Years From Now would be great. If Wilco did cover it now, I would like it to be truer to the original Byrds version rather than the rocking way they performed it for the tribute. It would be great to hear Nels play the steel part.

Country Disappeared and You Never Know are two recent songs that have been left by the wayside.

Mostly on shuffle on my iPod in my car and iTunes at work. I have an "A-list' of about 560 songs, 52 of which are from Wilco that I mainly shuffle. I will listen to a live show now and then on CD in my car. As a matter of fact, 'Wishful Thinking' just came up on shuffle.
