MSG September '90 and Boston September '91 were complete run gems.
-
I was losing touch with the Dead around '79 or '80, became totally bored with the Dead around '81, and stopped seeing them until fall '87, so I missed that entire period. I've never been impressed with any shows that I've heard from that era, though I know lots of friends and folks around these parts who saw great shows. I think Jerry and the Dead had a golden age from '87 through '91. From '92 on, it was a long, slow death spiral.

Came across this tonight, a definite keeper:

I was at that show! I had moved to Boston in August '79. Cops surrounded our car in the parking lot, I was able to gracefully exit and slink away. We all made it inside for a truly memorable show. The Dancin>Franklins is hall of fame material. I will have to play this tomorrow. Thanks for reminding me

In my "don't like but probably considered classics" category: Tennessee Jed, Ramble on Rose, Roses. Used to love the first two years ago, but now they are just too slow and don't really go anywhere. Always skip right by them. For the second category, there's some Brent song that fits the bill, but I can't even think of its name right now.

I need to get this, I was there. Wonder if its still available. They are killing me, releasing shows I was at. Had to buy the May '77 box 'cause I was at the St. Louis show. And I bought Sunshine Daydream just because its Sunshine Daydream. Getting expensive.

I don't remember, which leads me to think he must have gotten all jiggy and whatnot for U.S. Blues. But I do remember the entire show being high energy, a keeper.

That entire show is available, I've watched a good chunk of it, but never made it to that. Wow.
-
HOLY CRAP! How have I never seen that before??? It's so easy for me to forget that Jerry used to move and emote on stage. But this is off the hook great.

Are you on Spotify? Would love to be able to share those 2 playlists

Very well stated about Days Between, exactly why to me it stood out far above the rest of that batch of new songs.
-
I thought most of those late era tunes were terrible, horrible actually, with the notable exception of Days Between. I agree, wish they had more time to really get that going, but even still I saw some memorable performances, Albany '95 comes to mind. That song was a good one.

Greatest live acts list - Wilco number 12

Those RS lists aren't worth anything, but they are always good to generate a discussion -
Count me in for the support group. I posted a query on the Wilco page on FB, with no substantive response. I sent a PM to one of the mods here (no response, but that probably didn't go through), I relentlessly tried connecting more times than I can count over the last several days, and then I tracked down Mr. Tinnitus Photography via his website to find out if it was just me or if he had any information. Mr. Bugbee assured me I was not alone, then he soon after gave me the heads up that the forums were up and running. I think that qualifies me for a support group!

Bought it. Was away for the theater showing, looking forward to getting this for the home theater.

How is it that I've *never* seen Sunken Treasure, I'm asking myself. I've watched Ashes more times than I can count. -
That was a rugged several days to get through! Hope that never happens again, at least not while Wilco's on tour (and making crazy setlists and collaborations every night)!

From Twitter, they did Cinnamon Girl with MMJ. Also, looks like War on War, Misunderstood, Jesus, Germany, Art.. Tweedy declares an "open stage." http://twitter.com/ElCoopacabra/status/362764609955958784 -

Where s that Tweedy and Glenn footage from? I need more of that! (And why didn't RS link a video that shows the two guitar fronted band they made a point of writing about?..). -
I agree with his take on Donna. I always enjoyed seeing her up on stage, I'm one of the apparently few who liked her singing, especially her wailing in Playin!
