  1. Hey bbop, Weir usually comes in stage in shorts and Birkenstocks, even for his own gigs. He must be relaxed all the time
  2. Not strictly a Schmilco review, but here's Steve Hyman's "deep dive" into the Wilco catalog prompted by the release of Schmilco. http://uproxx.com/music/wilco-schmilco-career-retrospective/ Take it for what it's worth. Hyman's a long time serious Wilco fan. His paragraph on Being There could have come straight from my fingers on the keyboard. I don't agree with the comments about SBS, but that's a well worn path we've all been down before. My view on SW and Schmilco is that they too are "statement" records, just different statements than YHF. Anyhow, its a good read.
  3. Love that. I'm seeing her in November, hope she treats any talkers the same.
  4. Must have been great. I definitely had long distance envy for that show, love both of them.
  5. If anyone is familiar with the Dan Rather show, The Big Interview, on AXStv, the Neil Young interview is on right now. My DVR has it going. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. I sought the advice of my wise and knowing audiophile buddy . Here's what he came back with. I may need to take this up with Kung Fu: "Looks like the colored vinyl was done at Independent Record Pressing in NJ, the black vinyl at QRP in Kansas. QRP is an awesome shop. Might have to go black on this one. Lots of complaints on the orange wax, a number of people say their pinks are perfect, we’ll see. http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/wilco-schmilco-new-lp-2016.567432/page-11
  7. It's September 13...tick tock on the announcement. C'mon Tony!
  8. My orange vinyl is noticeably noisy and hissy. I'm pretty sure it's not my stylus/cartridge, but I haven't had a chance yet to spin anything else to compare.
  9. Given it only 2 good listens so far, once under some good headphones. My response to the music is still developing, but I can't deny that so far I was hoping for more of the "fucked-up country' sound. Whatever that is I don't know, but there's nothing "country" about this to me. Absent that, I'm missing some good old Wilco rock songs. Hard for me to fathom these tunes were recorded at the same sessions as Star Wars. Seems like night and day to me. Are a lot of songs I connected with immediately, including the 3 that were pre-released and We Aren't the World (Safety Girl). In a blind listen
  10. You must not have been standing with us when that electrified guy with the eyeballs rolling out of his head sidled up to us with a pipe filled with some psychedelic white powder
  11. I was there Wednesday, the night before (Jeff really ragged about the crowd). You may recall that the next night after Wilco's 3 night run, Phil Lesh was coming in for a series of shows. I always took Wilco's decision to close their run with Ripple as a sort of tribute and "hand-off" to Phil and the Deadheads who were about to take over the place. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but that's my fantasy and I'll always think it was a really nice touch by Tweedy and Wilco.
  12. Quite true. We caught many great Hartford shows, including the May '77 show that was officially released as "To Terrapin." Also one of the weirdest shows (at least for us), Colt Park.
  13. http://www.glidemagazine.com/170229/phish-opens-slave-delivers-type-ii-crosseyed-dicks-saturday-sunday-show-recaps/
  14. I watched the first set live Sunday, and then watched the second set last night. What a great show! Awesome set list (for me), great show to close out the run. Trey was into that First Tube, for sure, see if you find a video of that.
  15. Just did the same Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. Tonight's first set from Dick's is absolutely killing it #couchtour Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. Awesome! I hope to be tuning in. One of my concert bucket list items: Wilco in Chicago; any show at Red Rocks and Phish at Dick's Now that my son is living in Boulder, I should be able to get to ## 2 and 3. Had hopes to get to RR a couple of weeks ago when we were out there but our schedule did not permit.
  18. no idea who they are, but that is one hell of a shot Tim.
  19. I'm sure there's hours of endless noodling in this website: Trey's Guitar Rig. We're going to have a rainy Labor Day, I'm going to dig into this. http://www.jambase.com/article/new-website-alert-treys-guitar-rig-details-phish-guitarists-setups
  20. My experience has been just the opposite. Maybe you should just toss disc 5 like a frisbee? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. That's what my wife and daughter thought
  22. I had a hard time discerning any difference in the stage setup from the pics i saw on Twitter and Insta
  23. TTB is an awesome band, glad you had your introduction. Don't miss them next time they're in your neighborhood. We were away with friends this weekend so my time was spotty, but caught a bunch of both Phish shows and a little of Phil. I completely missed MMJ but by all accounts they were the set of the festival. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
