Favorite Albums You Can't Listen To Anymore
worldrecordplayer replied to Vacant Horizon's topic in Someone Else's Song
That was one of the great moments in my rock n roll life. Every thing about that opener was perfect. Still makes me laugh out loud every time I listen to it. -
Baba O'Reilly is such a great tune, I always like hearing them do that. And they could really nail TNK. I give Vince credit for bringing both of those to the band. About the only things I give Vince credit for.

He broke his wrist at Wannee when he fell off a golf cart. I think that's how the story goes.

Joe Russo's Almost Dead have a Tuesday release series on You Tube. In today's installment you can hear Wilco playing over the PA as the band takes the stage. You and I.

Nice long piece on Nels in L.A. Times. http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/music/la-et-ms-nels-cline-20140504,0,1305029.story#axzz30qUZ3hG0

Saw the Cure at a tiny club in Boston, the Underground. Must have been somewhere '79-81 I would say. About 500 people there. Saw REM in the Harvard gym with Husker Du opening (which we skipped). I think that was the first time I saw them. Saw the Ramones upstairs in Max's Kansas City, not many people in the room.

Good topic. I was wondering the same in the morning before Wilco was added to the Lockn' schedule. Had no idea they would be added, and was wondering if a DVD would come out as the only Wilco activity of the year. As I recall, there were professional video crews at all the stages. Something must be brewing. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

There are going to be thrills a plenty at this festival. Will almost make up for the fact that I'm sitting at my desk today and not at JazzFest. Actually, will probably make up for it and then some.
-
Giving this topic a bump, 'cause this festival will be crazy great for me. Schedule announced today. I was booked before Wilco was added for 2 nights, then they added TTB, Drive By Truckers, Bustle, Petty, Acoustic Tuna, and announced who's playing in the Phil band. This should be tons of fun. http://www.locknfestival.com/lineup/schedule-2014.html

Most ((Groundbreaking)) Song Ever??
worldrecordplayer replied to IRememberDBoon's topic in Someone Else's Song
Included among this list has to be one of the early Beatles songs that brought on Beatlemania. Take your pick, I Want to Hold a Your Hand, She Loves You, I Saw Her Standing There, etc. Talk about groundbreaking. I'll go with I Want to Hold Your Hand. -
Expanded Fillmore East set to be released, to include all four sets from 2 nights. Vinyl, cd and digital download. Not much info, but must be remastered to some degree to release the original unspliced versions of You Don't Love Me. I can never have too much of the Allmans at Fillmore East, so I'll be buying. http://www.jambase.com/Articles/121467/Allman-Brothers-Band-The-1971-Fillmore-East-Recordings

There's a fantastic Half Step from Broome County arena, Binghampton, either fall '77 or fall '78, I always forget which. Probably my favorite version. That entire first set is a mind blower how good it is.

What does Pat solo consist of? Pat solo on acoustic?

Is that St. Paul? The only instance of that sequence I know of. The transition from HCS into China Cat is seamless, a remarkable transition. I listened to the last disc of the Winterland '73 box this morning and thinking about how much I love '73 shows.
-
Isn't that a Dick's Pick? If so, I just listened to that over the weekend, first time in a while. It was smoking, whatever it was!
-
You're the best! War on Drugs at 10:00.
-
I also have it and love it. If I had to pick a single favorite GD year, '73 is it. Goes well on my shelf with the Winterland '77 box. Sent from my Windows Phone using Tapatalk

Going to be a late night, 9:00 start and 2 openers. I'm too old for this. Is there an email address I can use to get set times? I think you gave me one for House of Blues for the DBT show.

Yes to that!

Very good piece. For a number of years, they were my best band in the land. Recently watched Stopped Making Sense again, which brought all that back for me. Interesting he can't identify Byrne by name. Doesn't seem like there's been any lessening of the bitterness.
