Phish have been on fire since the reboot. I thought 2012 was a step up, then came 2013 and holy crap! Trend has continued this summer. I caught the tour opener in Mansfield, so-so first set but the summer took off with that second set. Randall's Island and now Merriweather Post off the hook. Listening to the Sunday Tweezer show as I type. Way to go Phish!

September 3 and 4 in Columbus and Akron. Ending (for me) the mystery that was the Lockn' bookings. http://www.jambase.com/Articles/122308/Wilco-Announces-A-Pair-Of-Ohio-Shows

Got a report and saw a photo of a surprise Tweedy show going on today at Newport. From the photo my friend posted it is a solo Tweedy performance, does not look like the Tweedy band is there.

Tweedy on Tonight Show, Thursday, July 24
worldrecordplayer replied to Heart full of holes's topic in Just A Fan
I stayed up to watch. Was hard to make it through the show, Fallon is just not funny to me. -
"Wow" is right. So glad I wasn't lazy and got my order in.

Ordered. Fall'72, definitely looking forward to this one.

Wilco did 2 nights each year other than the first. As much as I love(d) the Replacements, no way I would want to see Wilco give up a night at their own festival. I'm quite happy with 2 Wilco shows at Solid Sound thank you.

Not sure, I can't recall any shows other than festival sets. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Love the Replacements, but would their inclusion overwhelm Solid Sound? They would be the biggest name band to be included at SS. What do you think the chances are that the Wilco as we've known them is the same band that takes the stage at SS 2015? Wonder what the Vegas line would be on that proposition bet.

Albums that Don't Hold Up for You
worldrecordplayer replied to Vacant Horizon's topic in Someone Else's Song
Good topic. The Talking Heads were one of my main bands throughout their entire span, but I recently listened to the first 2 albums and they didn't hold up for me. I think there's probably a lot of that in my catalogue from those years. Much more recently, first listen through Arcade Fire's Reflektor was great. Each time I've gone back to it, not so much. I'm the complete opposite from Vacant Horizon about Being There and Summerteeth, especially BT. Love that album as much today as I did when it was released. -
My "essentials" that fit the topic heading: The Jam, Ramones, Clash.

That is excellent!

Watched the entire show today. Being There remains to this day my favorite Wilco album. I can't come up with words to do justice to how good this show is. Just watch it everybody!
-
Didn't listen to any Ramones records today. Watched this on You Tube instead. 1 2 3 4! http://youtu.be/IVhjBmcOP30

Neil just announced 2 Evening With shows in Boston in early October, at the Wang Theater. In usual Neil fashion, tickets top out at $350 plus service charges.

Hard for me to believe, but every one of the 4 original Ramones has now passed. Gonna bust out my Ramones records today. GABA Gabba Hey! Saw them for the first time upstairs at Max's Kansas City with my brother. First of many times. http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2014/07/12/us/ap-us-obit-ramone.html?_r=1

Last shows I saw were the Albany run in spring '95. There may have been some "moments" in each of those shows, but no show was worthy or a releas. I do remember a Days Between that was striking, but I would have to check the set lists to be sure. The other clear memory I have is during Black Peter when Jerry sang the line about laying in his bed dying, my friend and I turned to each other and each gave a knowing look. That's how pathetic Jerry looked and sounded. The fall'94 run in Boston also had some moments, but not enough for a complete release. The last great run of shows I saw was

I listened to the first few minutes and then had to leave my desk and missed the rest. Any discussion about Wilco in 2014?
-
Forget that, he's introducing the show now

Is anyone hearing the Tweedy show? I'm streaming WXRT but am hearing songs playing that are definitely not Tweedy.

a cool $240. I'm on the fence, will probably sell out before I decide to buy (just as the complete Europe '72 box did, to my amazement).
-
Wish I could. Let us know how it was. I don't even know who is in the band these days. I assume Howe and Squire, and no Jon Anderson? Sent from my PM23300 using Tapatalk

Ha! No, I'm not a hater of that song.

Well, I'm a lawyer, and I move to strike from this topic all references to You Never Know.
