  1. They say don't miss a Sunday Phish show. Been true this summer. Will definitely couch tour this one.
  2. Unexpectedly seeing Dave Mason's Traffic Jam tonight in beautiful Truro MA
  3. I agree, the GD Gear Book is my favorite of all the GD related books.
  4. 2 more: the Bill Graham bio and Phil Lesh's book. Sent from my Windows Phone using Tapatalk
  5. Timely topic. Just today I finished Perfect Circle-The Story of R.E.M. Updated in 2013. A great read and a fun summer project for me as I listened along to each album as I read about it them. A band my wife and I were into from Murmur on, my favorite band for many years, so I really enjoyed this one. Others, the Keith Richards book, and Gregg Allman one as well. I've been meaning to read the recent Duane Allman bio authored by his daughter, but haven't gotten to that yet.
  6. I've been seeing them since '95. I can't compare and contrast the different years like I can with the Dead. But let's just say that I've enjoyed the 2012-2014 shows as much as any earlier ones. Mr. Miner js quite enthusiastic about the last 3 shows. They should fi ish this summer with a real bang. http://phishthoughts.com/2014/07/29/catching-fire/
  7. From what I read, the Chicago shows seemed to be a slight downturn from what was before, and since a run of spectacular shows. Great moments/songs, just not through and through. Or so I've read. I have listened to the last 2 shows at Merriweather, and they are great, so the band should be hot rolling into Portsmouth tonight. Have fun Wilco Me!
  8. Where? All 4 Wilco shows, or 1 in particular? I hope the rumor is not that Spencer is replacing Glenn.
  9. Phish have been on fire since the reboot. I thought 2012 was a step up, then came 2013 and holy crap! Trend has continued this summer. I caught the tour opener in Mansfield, so-so first set but the summer took off with that second set. Randall's Island and now Merriweather Post off the hook. Listening to the Sunday Tweezer show as I type. Way to go Phish!
  10. September 3 and 4 in Columbus and Akron. Ending (for me) the mystery that was the Lockn' bookings. http://www.jambase.com/Articles/122308/Wilco-Announces-A-Pair-Of-Ohio-Shows
  11. Got a report and saw a photo of a surprise Tweedy show going on today at Newport. From the photo my friend posted it is a solo Tweedy performance, does not look like the Tweedy band is there.
  12. I stayed up to watch. Was hard to make it through the show, Fallon is just not funny to me.
  13. Wilco did 2 nights each year other than the first. As much as I love(d) the Replacements, no way I would want to see Wilco give up a night at their own festival. I'm quite happy with 2 Wilco shows at Solid Sound thank you.
  14. Not sure, I can't recall any shows other than festival sets. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. Love the Replacements, but would their inclusion overwhelm Solid Sound? They would be the biggest name band to be included at SS. What do you think the chances are that the Wilco as we've known them is the same band that takes the stage at SS 2015? Wonder what the Vegas line would be on that proposition bet.
  16. Good topic. The Talking Heads were one of my main bands throughout their entire span, but I recently listened to the first 2 albums and they didn't hold up for me. I think there's probably a lot of that in my catalogue from those years. Much more recently, first listen through Arcade Fire's Reflektor was great. Each time I've gone back to it, not so much. I'm the complete opposite from Vacant Horizon about Being There and Summerteeth, especially BT. Love that album as much today as I did when it was released.
  17. My "essentials" that fit the topic heading: The Jam, Ramones, Clash.
  18. Watched the entire show today. Being There remains to this day my favorite Wilco album. I can't come up with words to do justice to how good this show is. Just watch it everybody!
  19. Didn't listen to any Ramones records today. Watched this on You Tube instead. 1 2 3 4! http://youtu.be/IVhjBmcOP30
  20. Neil just announced 2 Evening With shows in Boston in early October, at the Wang Theater. In usual Neil fashion, tickets top out at $350 plus service charges.
