The presales for this tour for almost all of the shows are through Ticketmaster (I've also heard that MPP with be thru Ticketfly), it appears. MMJ are not using their fanclub company (the shitty groundcontrol) and I don't think Frontgate tickets is involved in the presales except maybe one or two venues (Hoboken?). I personally don't get that excited about presales, its generally not been any easier for me to get good tickets through them than the general onsales. It surely varies from artist/venue/show/promoter about how many and what seats get released to all the different presales. If I

There might be some prices in between the two extremes. For the Stones, Ticketmaster/LiveNation listed the cheapest and most expensive tickets only until the on sale started.

http://m.jsonline.com/more/entertainment/blogs/203726071.html Seems like the Dylan MMJ part is solid then there is the third mystery band. Dawes are doing shows with Dylan this year, too, so could be them and not Wilco? I'm assuming this would be more of the minor league baseball stadiums kinda tour.

Chicago night one started out slow and tentative, not that exciting, but it started picking up steam at it went on. Desecending is always a favorite for me, so I was thrilled, even if Adam McDougall still basically ruins the piano solo in it (and is even worse in Wiser Time). Going into Jumpin' Jack Flash was thrilling for the hardcores, a first time ever played by the Crowes. Jackie played mandolin on She Talks To Angels and I think on Tonight, too. Jackie and Chris did the backing vocals on Tonight I'll Be Staying (Sven might've been in the vocal mix, but Rich def. was not) and it sounde

full report tomorrow, but I went to both nights of Chicago and night one was pretty good, about what I was expecting, nothing thats gonna make me want to fly all over the country to see again and again (by the way the Stones bustout was the first time they every played Jumpin Jack Flash, not Street Fighting Man) Night two, on the other hand was ON FIRE!!!!! I mean, it was as good as any show I've seen since Marc Ford left. They were truly feelin' it, smiles and chemistry and energy and passion all night. Jackie was WAY more animated and aggressive on night two. The set list was a dream c

Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival

Thanks for the report. surprising how impressed everyone seems to be with John Mayer's performance. Found this: -
yeah I was getting 5-9 Buffalo and 5-19 confused. 5-19-77 Atlanta has that superb 2nd set jam with one of my favorite Uncle John's Band where they find themselves in the middle jam before they've started the song, one of those happy accidents, I guess. Terrapin> Playin> Uncle John's Band> Drums> Wheel> China Doll> Playin

I think you are onto something, Mr. Heartbreak, although I disagree about Comes A Time being an inferior cliched song, I love both of those songs so much, never got tired of Stella and it got better and better over the years, some of the best ones were in '94 (that one from Phoenix is a vocal powerhouse, not as much guitar-wise) and I never got to see Comes A Time in 100 shows. But I'm a pretty sentimental dude, I love sappy emotional stuff, I take it with all sincerity. But maybe you are right, there must've been something about the lyrics of Comes A Time that didn't feel right for Jerr or

Thanks! Glad y'all enjoyed my attempt to describe the experience.

Sigur Ros last night was a pretty deep experience, really different from most concerts I've seen. As people who are familiar with their music know, the music is more orchestral than rock, but they use guitars and drums, along with lots of keyboards, strings, and horns to get their trademark ethereal spaciness. And the vocals are not in English, they just sound like sounds. Its hard to describe the experience in words and that's part of what makes it so intriguing and powerful. The music seems to really bring out a lot of emotions in people, but because its just abstract sound (and images whe

That's probably the best Comes A Time ever, the ending solo just drips with emotion. They didn't play it that much and it always makes me wonder why two similar songs, like Stella Blue and Comes A Time, one gets played every third or fourth night for years and years and the other was extremely rare. What is the difference between those songs that made Jerry play one and not the other? Any theories? Buffalo May 9 1977 is a great show. Help>Slipknot is one of the best, too, I think. Wow, it must be cool to be hearing Cornell for the first time ever. Enjoy, dude! You can't go wrong w

Woman Wakes from Coma, Requests A Bob Seger Show
Shug replied to Mr. Heartbreak's topic in Someone Else's Song
I love going to see Seger live. I saw the last two tours and its just great song after great song, a super fun sing along with a bunch of good people who know how to have a simple, unhip good time. A good long show with a good big band. I'd go see Seger over Springsteen any day. They have similar shows and similar styles of music. When it comes to comparing so called workingman's Heartland rockers, I have a lot more emotional connection to Seger's songs than Springsteens. Night Moves, Against The Wind, Hollywood Nights, We've Got Tonight, Mainstreet, Beautiful Loser, Ramblin' Gamblin' Man, I l -

http://www.relix.com/features/2013/04/10/chuck-leavell-talks-stones-tour Interview with Chuck Leavell with some interesting stuff about his role in tour rehearsals. It bums me out to think about Billy Preston, Stu and Nicky Hopkins all not with us any more, especially Billy Preston, what a loss.

Tangetial to Fritz' question: For those who don't do bit torrent and all that, has anyone used Hijack Audio to record streaming audio? I'm considering getting it. Any other programs people would recommend?

Lammycat knows his shit! The top three versions of Deal on http://headyversion.com/song/69/grateful-dead/deal/ are the first three he mentioned. and the Iowa '74 one is on the list, too. Nice work, dude!

They did that tour in 2006 opening for Tom Petty and they also did a headlining tour with Drive By Truckers and Robert Randolph that year. 2001 (I think) was pretty weak for Crowes and I heard they hated it, but thed did that "famously fighting brothers" co-headlining tour with Oasis. London Souls are opening that tour, too, a pretty sweet triple bill, I'd say.

Last night they added Halfway To Everywhere and She Gave Good Sunflower to the current lineup's repertoire. And Sister Luck and Descending have been played several times each. I'd say that's not too bad for just a few shows in with a new guitar player. I'm thinking they'll be slowly adding in more songs as they go. I'm getting some good reports from friends about the quality of the playing, the band's energy and Chris' vocals being strong. Jackie seems to be playing leads that sound more like early 70s Clapton to me. And that's a good thing for me! http://youtu.be/teXlqbbfdpk

The Black Crowes do the VIP bullshit, but their regular tix are $60-$70 and that's up about $15 from 2010. At least they don't have a paid fan club (I don't think they do). Wilco also keep ticket prices reasonable and don't do the fanclub bullshit and they treat their fans very very well. MMJ, even though they joined in on the paid fanclub, are still very good to their fans, too, giving away downloaded recordings to all ticketholders at certain shows.
-
I also have a hard time with this apparent hypocrisy. This paid fan club stuff is pure greedy bullshit, in my view. Lots of bands that I thought stood for integrity have caved in to it, like U2 and Petty and My Morning Jacket. I'm extremely reluctant to call "sellout" without having all the facts and also because I can never really know what someone's intentions are, but its hard not to come to that conclusion when you look at things on the surface. Its pretty disappointing.
