I was kidding, I really like the curves and the fluidity in the designs. Although I think the "unicorn horn" description was dead on, so I think he may be using a D&D manual as his nature reference. But hey, it kind of works... I'm not sure if I remember seeing that design proposal for NY or not. Most of the proposals I saw were spectacularly awful, so I stopped paying attention to them, I think.

I like that one. For the record, I'm also probably way in the minority in thinking that Icky Thump is all kinds of awesome. Sky Blue Sky isn't super exciting, but it kind of at least fits the mood of the album. But Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga is neither here nor there. Feels like they're trying to be clever/cute, but its not really working. Then again, thats kind of how I feel about Spoon in general, so maybe I'm biased.

So I guess I was destined to have to make this call. At the start of the tourney I insisted my loyalties were still with my childhood team (Georgetown) over my alma mater (OSU). But somehow I didn't expect them both to be standing at this point, so now I'm forced to actually make that tough call. I'm an OSU grad, living in Columbus...can I possibly root against them? I think it'll have to be a gametime decision. I'll have to drink heavily on the matter and get back to you guys...

Getting new copies of this record every couple weeks is totally screwing up my Play Counts in iTunes. The stream version of You Are My Face was already up to 27 plays, but now I have to start all over!

Indeed. (and don't forget Ron Lewis) Oden gets all the attention--and yeah, he has tremendous potential and he'd probably be dumb NOT to jump to the NBA, but I still think he has a long way to develop as a player. But if you can grab a big paycheck while you develop, then, hey, why not I guess?

What I hear (only played a couple songs) is that the drums feel more prominent, yet the high end sounded a little fuzzed out (I think it was the guitar solo on You Are My Face that I noticed this). I'm no audiophile, so I don't have a complete analysis or anything...overall, I'd say it might sound marginally better, but not a ton.

Not sure. Aside from the final 1 second of the game, they actually played better without him.

Yeah, it uses the same first couple notes from the solo on Far Far Away, but so what? It was a little distracting the first couple times I heard it, but now it just kind of makes me smile when I hear it. In a way I kind of dig the self-referential nod...maybe it'll make a great segue between songs in concert!

Yeah, I was at the Newport for the Hold Steady show last Saturday. Parking was a breeze and there was a noticeable absence of the frat crowd since all the students got deported to Cancun for the week. Shame about the no hawt chicks out on the Oval for ya.
