  1. My beloved O's have been threatening to climb back to mediocrity for years. This could be the year!
  2. Wow, I haven't heard Jeff scream like that in a while. That was awesome.
  3. Seriously, you guys don't waste time. I think maybe the only new ones I've heard this year are Wilco, Ted Leo, and Arcade Fire. Of those, the Wilco record is the only one I love, tho the others are growing on me.
  4. I once made a bracket like this with all of the albums I owned and proceeded to go through the "rounds" to determine my favorite album of all time.(hey, I had a lot of free time on my hands. so what?) I can't remember what it turned out to be, but I remember getting to the end and thinking WTF??
  5. I voted! ...and in almost every case, the band I chose is losing.
  6. I'm imagining what Bob's version of Piece of Shit Car would sound like.
  7. I've only listened to it maybe once or twice through so far. Initial reaction is that I might like it slightly better than Shake the Sheets, but again has that good-but-not-quite-great feel to it. Will have to listen more, tho.
  8. trade those headphones around his neck for a harmonica and he's got the look down cold.
  9. So you're calling this their Eagles album?
  10. Like the people who just got buried who weren't really dead? I just caught the last 20 min of this last night. The paralyzing-spider bit was a little over the top, but it gives the burial at the end of a bit of a Poe quality. No idea how one would go about digging oneself out, but hey, "things don't stay buried on this island." Wait, wasn't I just the one saying the other day how I don't watch this show and am not interested in it?
  11. Maybe this is where those Being There comparisons come in...
  12. Isn't "Death Is Not the End" the last song? I don't remember anything after that. (but that's only track 10) Did this get re-released?
  13. I'm already deeply disappointed by the hypothetical next album. The studio tracks don't rock nearly as hard as the songs I haven't heard yet in concert.
  14. I tried to get into Money Mark's stuff at one point--I think I had "Change Is Coming". It was decent, but I guess as keyboard-groove throwdowns go, I guess I prefer Medeski, Martin & Wood. I think I still have that cd around somewhere, tho, so maybe I'll give it another shot.
  15. I watched this last night and thought it was pretty funny, but I was waiting for the avalanche of "OMG, I can't beleive he started his 'most-annoying' list with Bob Dylan and Neil Young " comments, which evidently never came. I thought it was amusing--some of the impressions were better than others, but overall, a pretty decent way to waste a couple minutes.
  16. Has anyone named Jar Jar shown up yet? I think I lost track of this show somewhere in the middle of the first season, so I have not the slightest clue what is going on now. Kind of like the Sopranos--didn't that show end like 10 years ago? I see people who are really into these shows and part of me thinks it would be cool to give it enough attention to analyze it on that kind of level, but really about the only TV I see at all anymore is the occasional Spongebob episode.
  17. Yeah, its a tremendously sad situation. I have trouble even reading about it--I look at my own kids and wonder "what if" and can't imagine what they are all going through--emotionally, financially, you name it. Its pretty cool to see how other musicians are trying to pitch in to raise money and stuff. I would have loved to have gone home to DC to catch one of the Dismemberment Plan's reunion/benefit shows--seems like those shows sold out before word of them was even leaked. Which is wonderful, of course.(I wish they'd add more!) And I read about this stuff and wish I had more to give, m
  18. I think that can be arranged. This guy is bringin' the tunes: If you want the actual artists themselves, you may want to look elsewhere. For some reason they are not returning my phone calls.
  19. For the record, Dave Matthews is not playing in my back yard either. I'll let you come over and hang out for only $20. Commemorative t-shirts cost extra.
  20. That should be cool. They probably could have played a smaller venue in Columbus than they did. Many bands would have had the life sucked out of them by playing to a less than full hall, but there was such great energy at the show and the crowd was just small enough that it still had an intimate feel to it. Really great show.
  21. No, sorry, didn't mean to imply that I knew anything. Just a hunch.
  22. I've got a hunch they might play there again sometime. I'm glad I caught them in Columbus--Craig said it was his first time playing there since Lifter Puller broke up. (come back more often, guys)
