  1. Same here. That song struck an eerie chord with me when I first heard it. To the original poster--having been through (and sometimes still going through) something similar, I can relate to a lot of what you wrote. And probably part of the reason Wilco has maintained its spot atop my huge collection is that I definitely feel a strong connection with many of their songs. Whether real or imagined--I have no idea what's in Jeff's head or what he has gone through--I feel a certain kinship and am grateful that he has been able to express thoughts and ideas that I sometimes felt nobody else unde
  2. I don't know why, but this line made me spray coffee out my nose...and for some reason it made me think of this:
  3. B&G is definitely the album that finally made this band click for me, yet now that it has, its actually the first couple records I can't get enough of.
  4. That was fun flipping through all the photos of the old park on the website. That's kind of a strange fascination of mine--photos of old abandoned amusement parks and stuff. I blame Scooby Doo.
  5. The missing bees have all gathered in my backyard and have been terrorizing my kids all week. No joke.
  6. Thank goodness. I was having trouble digesting the unfamiliar sensation of bubbling optimism a couple weeks ago.
  7. Isn't that part of his charm?
  8. There might be some dissent of what specifically the consequences are going to be and when we will see them, but in the scientific community (aka - people who don't have a financial stake in disproving the existence of global warming) there's really not so much credible dissent that this is really happening and that humans are contributing to it. Not saying there aren't some scare tactics in the way it is presented to the public--the media loves to latch onto a good scary hypothetical situation and then sell it as an inevitable forecast of doom. Scary shit sells. As for the planet's abilit
  9. In that case, you gotta admit the future actually looks kind of cute
  10. I appreciate many of those. Not sure of the point of this, however, considering that I'm assuming that their definition of "underappreciated" probably refers to a lack of exposure by mainstream media outlets like, say, Rolling Stone. Oh well. I'm going to stop trying to understand the logic behind music magazines now and get back to the appreciating...
  11. Word. I'm kind of bored with what passes as "indie" these days, too.
  12. Brady Quinn Meanwhile, I guess I'll have to start referring to Indy as West-Columbus: I normally don't care for the Colts (still carrying a chip on my shoulder about the move from Baltimore when I was like 7), but those are all quality guys. Nice job.
  13. My wife went to a hyphenated last name on legal documents, tho informally she usually just goes by my last name. I can imagine that must be an awkward transition. I can relate to the bit about being responsible for carrying on the family name. For me, it appears I'm likely the only child of my family who is going to have kids--and we now have 3 kids and aren't currently planning for more, and they're all girls. Doesn't bother me any, but I'm getting tired of hearing people ask if we're going to "try for a boy to carry on the name". Nobody can pronounce my last name anyway. Perhaps I'm
  14. Nice. In keeping with the Jaws theme, I can recite Quint's whole USS Indianapolis monologue by heart.
  15. I'll go one for each album, but spare the new album since its not officially out yet: Its Just That Simple Kingpin We're Just Friends Heavy Metal Drummer Hummingbird ...although many of those I like under the right circumstances. And, for the record, the people who mentioned Dreamer In My Dreams are woefully incorrect.
  16. They might take him, but I'm not sold on the idea that he will be their savior.
  17. They're not the best broadcasting team in business for nothing, folks.
  18. I'm getting a little tired of the O's giving up game-winning grand slams to Boston and NY.
  19. Wow, that's a pretty eclectic mix there! Could definitely open itself up to some interesting mixes of music.
  20. Nobody is asking the important questions. Which of them would you most like to have a beer with and who has the funniest name that we can make fun of?
