  1. I mostly use Trebuchet. I like things clean and simple. Edit: I was half asleep when I answered, but I also meant to say, fun topic.
  2. This song does deserve its own thread. I can't stop listening to it and it gets better with each listen. It's such a heartbreaking story, so beautifully written.
  3. I agree. Some of the best Wilco songs are on that record...Misunderstood, Hotel Arizona, Sunken Treasure, The Lonely 1, Monday...but whatevs. I'm listening to The Lonely 1 as I type and that is one gorgeous song.
  4. I might just cry if John left. It warms my heart that he's been there straight through. Also, one of my favorite things about a new record coming out is that it inspires you to go back and listen to all the old ones again. Such a treat.
  5. Love the strings on Black Moon...gorgeous.
  6. Haha. So true. I had a hard time stopping last night so that I could get some sleep....and here I am back again. I guess that's a good thing.
  7. I think a lot of us can relate. It strikes a cord with me too.
  8. I made a comment about The Late Greats being barely tolerable and I'm certainly not a troll. Wilco's music covers a lot of ground and everywhere that they venture isn't always for me. That's all. Can we still be friends?
  9. Don't kill me for saying this but I thought Open Mind sounded like a return to A.M. When I first saw the video of Tweedy playing the song solo, I loved it and couldn't wait to hear how it would be with the band. It has a kinda alt-country twang to it that I wasn't expecting.
  10. Agree about the headphones. I am so much more into it now that I'm listening with them and I agree about One Sunday Morning too. That is one beautiful and heartbreaking song. I love the way Tweedy's voice sounds on this song. I can't put my finger on what it is but there is a quality to it that is just so touching.
  11. I have loved something about every single Wilco album and this one is no exception. I have been lucky enough to hear them all as they came out and have never been let down. That's a beautiful thing.
  12. Natalie Merchant - Beloved Wife Gives me chills and brings me to tears every time...sometimes as soon as she sings the first line.
  13. Even the greatness of ALTWYS cannot make up for the barely tolerable Late Greats. So I vote no on that one.
  14. OK maybe but this one is coming up on the rail
  15. Yes. I totally agree. These are the two songs that are stood out to me upon first listen and are sticking with me after repeated listens.
  16. I've given it about 5 listens so far. It's pretty much like every other Wilco album for me. There are a few songs that I love, I few that are nice enough and a few that are not my cup of tea. It's always been this way for me with Wilco all the way back to A.M. and I accept that. I often end up liking some songs more than I thought I would after seeing them performed live and there are a few on this new record that I think will be amazing live, ex. Art of Almost and Born Alone. All in all, I'm thrilled to have some new Wilco to listen to and I can't wait for the shows.
  17. Black Moon sounds kinda like an updated version of Black Eye. I've been listening to Open Mind from the video of the Strombo show and wondering what it would be like with the whole band. I was imagining something fuller but now I think I like the solo version better.
  18. I can't wait to read the lyrics to One Sunday Morning. That song is so beautiful.
  19. Totally agree. I did the same and it sounded even better in the context of the album as a whole
  20. it's right on the homepage. try refreshing
  21. This almost makes me as happy as this new record.
