Am I the only one that prefers Moondance to Astral Weeks?
-
I was late to the party, getting in to Wilco with YHF. Those first few notes of IATTBYH sold me immediately. I hold all their albums in equal reverence, but I was an Uncle Tupelo fan first, so appreciating AM and folowing the progression of their catalog was easy for me. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the new album. In some ways, there are songs that I think surpass a lot of what they have already done (Side with the Seeds, You are My Face, Hate it Here, On and On and On), along with songs that go back to what they've done before (SBS, Leave Me, Patient With Me, Either Way). Who would vote "no opinion" on an opinion poll?

It's all a matter of taste, though. Pink Floyd had an incredible 5-album run over an 8-year span (Meddle to The Wall). You can argue, and I would, that Wilco has had a similarly incredible 5-album run over a 9-year span (A.M. to Ghost). So, in terms of prolificness, they're about the same. But, again, it goes back to what one person may like more than the other. I've never been much of a Zeppelin fan, so there catalog doesn't get the same kind of reverence from me. The same can be said for Radiohead, depending on how you rate Amnesiac. I'll agree with you on the Truckers and their liv

I haven't been able to find it on soulseek either. Would appreciate a pm. thanks. I should have just left the player open last night.

It's been banned again

83.3 Doesn't it seem a little strange that everyone so far has been above 80%, which is what excellent musicians rarely score higher than?

Not want you want to hear I know, but that's why I never take any chances with any of that stuff. I could be going into a Starbucks in the middle of whitebread Fort Worth to get a cup of coffee and I'll take my iPod and my detachable radio face with me. Too many instances of friends having stuff stolen. It does suck. If its any consolation (and of course forgetting about the cost) the new 80 GB iPod does look nice.

Doesn't matter. They could all come out and play it with kazoos and bongos and it would still be incredible.

Hell, I'd piss on a sparkplug if I thought it'd do any good.

and Wolf Like Me was on Friday Night Lights

I wasn't at the show, so I'm not clear on what happened, but I think it is funny that out of all the comments we've seen here explaining the incident, Pitchfork uses the most sensationalized version for its story before getting to the real details.

Isn't it "Distance has no way of making love understandable"?
-
Yeah, I just listened to it - one of the best recordings I've heard in a while.
-
Is that the same recording that's up on etree right now or a different one?

Sweet setlist, after reading it I was going to ask if there were any tapers -- good to know there was one. I was at the Fort Worth show, and I just wasn't able to make it down to SA.

The easiest way to get your ratio up is to upload your own CDs (I know it's been said before, but I thought I would reiterate it). I'm fairly new to Oink and got into ratio problems very early after downloading a Who discography. So I stopped downloading altogether and re-read everything. Be sure to take time to forward your ports and make sure everything is okay with ISP and Firewall issues and then scan through the request pages for CDs you can upload yourself. Using EAC is very important, too. After doing that, my ratio is now always hovering around 3.000.

I had the same dilemma.

I'm not trying to pick a fight here, but is any Mermaid Avenue song really valid for this discussion? I mean, I think an integral component of Tweedy's music is his lyrics and none of those songs would offer that. Right now, I think I would go with Misunderstood. That's usually my litmus-test song when exposing new listeners to Wilco.

Kind of off topic, but I was wondering around what time they're generally hitting the stage. Seeing them Thursday in Fort Worth.

There's another version??? He did write it, so that would make his "version" definitive.

Revisiting this after the earlier discussion.

I loved Separation Sunday and thought it was considerably better than Almost Killed Me. Well, maybe not considerably, but I definitely liked it more. Anyway, it has been hard to lay off the substandard rips that have periodically surfaced. np:
